I'm sorry to be so ignorant but could someone fill me in with the difference between San Marino and Italy. I had always been under the impression that it was apart of Italy, no? Again, sorry for my ignorance.

As far as I know the Republic of San Marino is an independent country. It has it's own government.

It's a bit like Monaco or Andorra.

It's quite an achievement that such a little country has 2 riders in the world championship (Poggiali & De Angelis).

Yer, It`s a city-State. I think it goes somthing like when all the Italian city states combined to from the modern nation of Italy, the only two that didn`t join the federation was the Vatican and San Marino..... How the hell did I remeber that?

There ya go. 13 years of schooling hasn`t gone totally to waste.
