Checa to make MotoGP comeback?

Speedy Spaniard linked to satellite Ducati ride for 2010

THE rumour-mill has gone into overdrive this morning with the news that Carlos Checa is in serious talks with Ducati about a return to the MotoGP world.

Currently with the Ten Kate Honda team, Checa has been left somewhat out in the cold after the news that the two-man Honda line up in WSB 2010 would consist of Jonathan Rea and Max Neukirchner.

Earlier in the season there were lots of rumours flying around that Checa was trying to land a big-money AMA deal for next season, but the recent virtual collapse of the AMA championship has put paid to that idea.

According to Spanish sources, Checa has held extensive talks with Ducati already and a deal is virtually signed off and completed.

Will he be a title contender? No, of course he won't. So we're wondering why Toseland didn't get the ride...

JT would rather be at the front in WSBK than becoming back marker riding those privateer ducatis. Checa has rode the Duke before. Maybe he can beat Hayden on a privateer Duke..

I smell desperation.

Is the desperation on dorna's or ducati's part? Both probably have reasons to be so.

Good point Michael!

I vaguely remember something earlier in the year suggesting Checa was in talks with Duc about joining the Xerox Ducati WSBK team ???
Maybe I am wrong.

Maybe Ducati has said no to WSBK but if you bring the sponsorship money we will run another bike for you in MotoGP.
Dorma might be worried about the dwindling grid numbers and might have thrown some encouragement ($ £ € ¥) towards Duc to run another bike.

Just on a side note, I think Dorma should put some pressure on Suzuki to get their .... together and run a satelite team. It can only help the factory team improve their structure. Surely there is sponsorship money available out there and available to a second Zuk team.

whilst i would love to see more suzooks on the grid, IMO if dorna applied pressure to get a satellite team, suzuki would do a kawasaki and pull out. there is barely enough sponsor money for the factory team, never mind an even less competitive sat team.

and no, i am not happy about the level of suzukis competitiveness...
