Basically it went like this:

.... me, some people have way too much time on their hands! How about spending less time online where almost anonomously you can post any perspective and be able to back it up, and spending more time talking to real people... you might realise that the sport is simply to be enjoyed by everyone. Of course, everyone will have their favourites, as with any sport, but i'm sure you are better off not sat inside milling over pieces of information from years ago that still bug you, then forming long, almost "this is the truth and you should believe it too" ........ threads... Go down the pub, have a chat with the old guy who enjoys his motorbike racing... and realise how obsessed you are with something, that once upon a time, you used to enjoy, simply for enjoying it!

^That's what I was trying to say... Sometimes it just feels really strange to me that some people have such a strong need to prove that THEY are RIGHT and are willing to spend great amounts of time in doing so...

Oh my god you have opened my eyes. How could I have been so selfish, man I am so sorry to everyone I have ever made fun of. (stylie sheds a tear.)

Let me give you a few reasons why we do what we do.
1. It's funny. And if you don't think so, than lick'em.
2. Some of us are well off and don't have real jobs. We have lots of time on our hands.
3. The opposite, poor nothing better to do losers, like gaz. (kidding gaz)
4. It's ....... 8 degrees out snowing like a mother ...... and your high as ..... What else are you gonna do?
5. Some of us live in America were even finding people who know what the .... motogp is a task. I belonged to a motorcycle group and sure they knew who Nicky Hayden is but didn't know what the .... motogp is. I felt like I was talking to a caveman or Mika Kilio for that matter.

Now spend the next five or so months reading old threads and come back when you have an understanding of the cesspool you stumble upon.

You joined to tell us this? Wow. You may want to rethink this "perspective" thingy.

We don't take any of this .... seriously people, as Mdub said its just fun & games. Give me a break with the "real world" ......... Most of us have that already, learn to distinguish the difference between the virtual one and stop trying to make it fit into the real one. Enjoy the banter, slag off the sensitivity, if you can't handle it, go join a pansy forum. We have a vast range of people here, and if you can take this place for what its worth, then you will have fun here, otherwise, you'll be like the many who get easily offended and dawn this 'holy than thou' attitude, or this 'I'm better than that' attitude because they can't put this place into perspective.

Fun & games people, that's all it is. You'll see that between the slagging, there is plenty of good info and insight, it would be terribly boring to talk like some text book, so just take the banter in stride (something that you'll need to learn it seems, oh and take some time to learn the relationships between certain members too, some of us get a kick out of arguing with eachother). If you want to have a "real world" experience then why are you here?

Mdub and Jumkie practically cover it all in their excellent replies...although if I might add -

Before you spout off online - be mindful of the fact that you yourself do so through your internet persona which by it's very nature is an artificial creation.

Anonymity? I have nothing to hide. I will gladly step out from behind my keyboard any time you want and back up my perspective, PM me, I'll tell you where I am and who I am and we'll talk as real people. Whilst on the subject of real people - check out this years Indy, Doni and Laguna meet up threads just for starters. Many of the regulars on here have very interesting lives, as evidenced by their posts, have varied backgrounds and professions, live in different parts of the world, and in many cases know or have met the real person behind the profile.

This is the most passionate and vibrant racing forum that you'll find on the net, and because of this is often the most inflammatory. This is greatly exacerbated during close season.

I argue the toss with Babel because I enjoy it, it's a release. On the rare occasions he posts something sensible I even agree with him too. The guy still speaks a language more than I do, and I actually have a great deal of respect for a great deal of members on here because I recognise that they are real people. Most of this is tongue in cheek, and if you are incapable of reading between the lines, then I suggest you adjust your monitor settings.

Further more, I am one of those old'ish' guys down the pub who enjoys his motorcycle racing and I do in fact have a life outside the internet, and I'm fortunate to have lived a very colourful one - albeit pretty chaotic of late.

If you'll excuse me, although I have far too much time on my hands, and I'd like to use it constructively to prepare a 5,000 word treatise in response to Povol's latest highly questionable offering over on another thread.

What’s up Talpa? How are you mate? Don’t mean to be rude but Rossi has not missed a single race in MotoGP ever since… ever! He joined in 2000, which makes 10 years now and 167 appearances in a role. Here is where it gets tricky as I have not that reliable info on lower classes; I believe Rossi has 227 appearances in all classes and it would mean he never has missed a single race start ever. Now that is getting the job done ridding isn’t it? (Mind my boppering!).

It's not a stain, it is the best ever Rider being backed up! And it is not Powerslide Forum, it is the whole MotoGP as a Sport! Just look at any given race at any given Country, including Spain and Australia… There's the yellow (stain) too for a reason.

No offence taken MDub, but I will have you know that I have money (when the wife gives me my weekly allowance) and that I am now working - thus the 'to much time in this place' syndrome has long left this body and I won a raffle once, so 'former loser' if you please.

And with money comes my opportunity to try the candy diet - so far so good, I eat candy (she does not complain either), I feel good, I get tired, I sleep - now to see if I can get time off work

Thanks VH, I thought 5 years back with the triple tuning fork was enough to aptly discredit ARRi's attempt at slander, however you certainly have nailed him with that, its quite an achievement over 10 years at the top of one of the most dangerous sports in the world!

The funniest thing is how the stats keep on making fools out of the Anti and Semi Anti-Rossi's, yet they keep coming back with more, I'll give it to them they are very creative-as all good fictionalizes are!!

I presume by that you mean me - though which category I'm unsure.

My cardinal sin appears to have originally been to suggest that VR was offered slightly more in the developmental department than the previous incumbents at yamaha.

Explain why the stats make a fool out of me - and please indicate from which post. At what point have I personally ever questioned Valentino Rossi's on track achievements?

Does her name really matter when she is a hottie that you'll most likely never get a chance to meet?
