Catalunya Race Thread (Spoilers)

Unless Ducatis GP12 does away with the engine as a stressed member concept, Rossi and co will not have a very happy 2012 either.

Going by quotes on kropotkin's site he thinks he and jb can eventually fix the ducati without total chassis re-design; he has always liked a challenge, and as I have said previously the 2009 thing didn't look too bad when stoner was healthy. Good luck to him, I think the honda will remain strong regardless, and I would love to see a full-on stoner-rossi title contest on approximately equal machinery.

Guys...................don't make me say it!

Actually, he's doing a fine job in BSB, maybe he's found his level, or lost his shiteness.

Hayden had better overall single lap pace than Rossi during the race. Hayden cannot get along with the fuel computer. Perhaps WSBK is the place for him, but it has nothing to do with his ability to ride a motorcycle. Hayden doesn't know how to hypermile.

Not read the rest of the thread yet so this may have already been pointed out, but Hayden didn't have a better overall single lap pace. Whilst you may well be correct about the fuel computer as his laps from 18, I'm not sure where you got your race laptime info from. FYI these are the times from MotoGP.com

The First: Well done to Stoner. He is starting to race by controling the race from front instead of runing with it, This was what we usually see from Rossi and Lorenzo. He is full of confidence at the moment.

Second: Lorenzo did his best and a nice job to give us a little something. It became exciting when he almost closed the gap to Stoner, though imo it was because Stoner rode more carefully and played the waiting game in the wet part.

Third:I was mostly impressed with Spies. Fortunatly he is finding his usual form, this was the first time he has finished so close to Lorenzo. I cant wait to see the reaction of Lorenzo if or when he finishes behind Spies on podium.

Fourth: Dovi wasn't able to do anything about Spies for the whole race but again was good enough to beat Rossi.

Fifth: Rossi, nothing especial but it's not that bad for now.

Sixth:Simoncelli, wasn't at his best, but after so many dnf is better to finish sixth than to crash. I expect him to do better this weekend.

Pete! Bro, are you coming to Silverstone?

Ah, and afterthought.

Jumkie/Arrab et al,

What kind of sponsorship does Hopkins carry with him?

Asking given the way this thread has now been taken (by me) onto the Hopkins front as would he carry enough sponsorship dollars with him to entice Suzuki (as an example) to remain in MGP or to be able to afford a non-CRT ride?

Monster

He didn't seem too anguished when he barged through on Hayden.

I think you're reading too much into it -- conditions were iffy and Simoncelli was wise enough not to dump it for the third time this season.

Agree. Hairball blew the start, failed to establish a rhythm, and was stressed after Honda told him,

not only to not knock down other riders... but also to complete the race at all costs. Just a hunch.

.

Jums,

Aware of his Monster association but would there be enough there to 'buy' a ride?

Serious question and not meant to sound derogatory either as Monster seem to have spread themselves a fair bit wider than they had when initially associating with him in 2008/9, so will they pool resources back or free more funds is the question?

Thanks, Yam. Checked it out and Hayden did not have better pace. Moral of the story. Don't ever repeat anything that hasn't been filtered through PS.

Didn't HRC at the last minute also give Aoyama a factory bike before the season along with Sic so Gresini became factory 'B' squad? I don't see how moving Aoyama to Repsol does anything, as I don't see him moving up that many places. He's riding the same machinery only in different colors.

Aoyama has been on the customer bike -- Nakamoto confirmed it.

He seemed to have a very hard initial adjustment to the 800's electronics last year, so it might turn out that the factory bike doesn't make him a lot faster. We'll see...

In FP1 he ws the the fastest (top speed) rider out there at 327.6 km/k, faster than Stoner, Simo and Dovi

He was third fastest in the next two FP sessions (behind Dovi and Stoner) and 4th fastest in QP (Behind Stoner Dovi and Barbera on the Duc).

He had more top speed pace than Simoncelli in every session, the factory bike of Simoncelli was slower than Aoyama, I know that Simoncelli is a heavier rider but the difference was significant. If that is a customer bike then irrespective of that it certainly does have the top speed. l
