Casey Stoner: ‘I puked during Catalunya race

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Arrabbiata1 @ Jun 25 2009, 12:39 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>That's just his way....I still have enormous respect for the guy, yeah he hams it up, but there are occasions that his complaints are legitimate - but it's unfortunately become like the boy who cried wolf. He has however got a long way to go until he rivals Sete as a drama queen.

Thing is, even when he dominates FP, qualifies on pole, and wins the race, something could've been better, either with the bike or his performance, much like Doohan - it's never perfect. That's just the way he is - and I have a shitload of respect for anyone that can take it to Rossi.

Why shouldn't he indulge in a bit of baiting as well? It amused me that he commented that Rossi's pass on Lorenzo was really nothing special, and in fact quite easy to pull off at that section of the circuit. Basically, he was saying that Lorenzo was caught napping, and Vale's move wasn't that extraordinary after all. 90% of this forum will disagree, but that's the idea, Casey doesn't make any concessions to popularity which is why I like him, but he also doesn't alienate in the Pedrosa way. I don't really care if he whinges - it amuses me; he's ....... quick, ....... brave, and his folks sold up everything to pursue his dream - and he's dutifully become a world champion, which in the era of the GOAT is one hell of an achievement.
i cant stand gibbers, think ive mentioned that before
<
. i would root for chasey moaner over gibbers any day.
stoner just gets under my skin with is "sooking" all the time, but hey most aussies ive ever spoken to are the same

Agree, although his parents would not be the only ones to have made huge sacrifices for their son (or daughter) to have pursuded their sporting dreams.

IMO, he is an old school style racer who is not out there to win popularity contests, nor make squillions by building a whole business based upon a persona, he is there to race and win. Yes, he is like MD and Rainey and Schwantz and all the old school guys who did not like being beaten, spoke in terms that were not politically correct yet rode in ways that we can only dream about.

The unfortunate thing for Stoner is that being old school he does not sugar coat his opinion nor is it said with a sheerful smile, he calls it as he sees it and as such opens himself up for much criticism as we have grown used to a more measured delivery. IMO, it is not just Stoner who is suffering in this regard but also Pedrosa and to a degree Lorenzo with the coincidental factor being that all are genuine contenders.

Stoner sick hit the podium. This weekend he is well and will also hit the podium...probably in top spot. Let the haters hate. There isn't a single guy on this board that could pace him for 100 meters. 2 meters on the Ducati. He is astonishing and I don't mind his way at all.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Gaz @ Jun 24 2009, 04:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>IMO, no idea whether he had vomited in his helmet or not as I was not there nor did I smell the bloody helmet.

But, something was seriously wrong when he returned to parc ferme as he firstly took some time to get off the bike, then took even longer to get the helmet off after virtually collapsing onto the hoarding and using it as a leaning board. He then was removed quite quickly from pac ferme and had the doctor attend, made it to the podium and looked like death warmed up, sat through the interview looking like he was either going to black out or throw up, but all of that was faked as we who were not there know better.

If I was gonna fake getting sick, I think I wouldn't have conjured up the idea of vomiting in my helmet. I would have preferred saying I .... in my leathers, but vomiting in me helmet, are you fking kidding me? That's just awesome.

I'm gonna watch the race again tonight. But this time I'm gonna sit very very very close to the TV and look for signs of vomit! I'm gonna get to the bottom of this mystery.

Please Jum, not even in jest!!! Remember, it could happen to you in your next visit to Willow Springs after a dodgy chicken enchilada the night before

I think you missed the sarcasm in my post. "I'm gonna sit very very very close to the TV... Hahahaha. This reminds me of how some Rossi fans would diagnose and conclude with all certainty that in fact (as they put it) it was a "tire" issue that lost him the 07 season. Ah, I can still remember the posted race stills point to some smudge on the tire with a big, 'ah ha' revelation. All that, from the TV! So I figured I'd do the same, sit close to the TV monitor and look for signs of vomit. (comprende?)

Most good street riders would lap at a 125 pace on a GP bike, after getting comfortable. Stoner (and the bike) is doing .... you can't see as far as brake pressure, throttle control, lean angle, and body positioning.

I can hit a 90 mph fast ball if I know when/where its coming, doesn't mean I'd be a good big league DH.

And i remember the counter posts like "he caused micro lacerations to his own tyres by running slightly off track".

Speaking from experience again I see

And whats your other point supposed prove?? So what if almost noone on here would be able to pace him. Apart from Jumkie most of us are arm chair racers that do the occasional track day ffs

All you guys who say Casey is moaning and whining are pretty ridiculous. Has it not occured to you that Casey was answering a question from the reporter????

If he had not answered them you would say he is a robot or arrogant for not taking the time to answer, he responds to what the reporter asks and he is now a moaner?!?!!? Come on guys a bit rich. Anyone with an IQ over 25 could tell he was in extreme discomfort after the race.

And as to the earlier post re why are we talking about the guy who got 3rd place, well that is what this thread is about. You are not forced to click on it if you would rather read/discuss something else.

Nah, I didn't but thought I should correct myself lesy anyone actually think I was being serious.

Hey, a question (yes, just a little fishing).

If the tires were the cause of Rossi not winnning the 2007 championship, does that then not also mean that the tires also won him the championship (note use of US spelling as we spell it tyres
<
) ?

ps: Do enjoy these little fishing exchanges from Roger and others
