MCN UK Paper is reporting that Capirossi has signed a 1 year deal late Saturday night with Suzuki to replace John Hopkins....so the finger gesture from Loris was a Two finger up to Ducati.

This should mean Melandri is going to Ducati!!!!

This could mean Westness stays at Kwaka!!

Do you have a link? I dont see it posted on MCN's website anywhere..

My first reaction was great RDP can stay at Kwaka!

If this is right, it might explain why Suppio was less than enthusiastic about Loris' second place when he was interviewed after the race.

I can't find it on the MCN webpage, but it is reported the printed newpaper version.

And Yes it could mean West stays at Kawasaki

Watch how fast Capirossi's bike goes backward for the rest of season!

Really hope that doesn't happen, now that he looks comfortable riding I hope he stays up there. The more riders challenging for the win, the better!

But if he was offered both the Suzuki and the Kwaka rides, I'm surprised he went with Suzuki, the Kwaka looks more impressive to me.

If this is true it will be interesting to see how Ducati play it. They can't have Loris taking points away from Casey, but they also need him to push Valentino and Dani back if he can.

I am really surprised by this news. I just don't see why Suzuki would get Loris on a one year deal! It doesn't make any sense! It's a very short term investment on someone who is at the end (or nearing the end of their career).

I hope Suzuki aren't losing Chris Vee for next year ... if they are they will really struggle to make any impression after a relatively better showing this year!

I hope Westy keeps doing what he has done the last 3 races ... A good showing at Laguna (a track he hasn't ridden before) should go down well with Team Green! I really believe Westy would be a good teamate to Hopper!

One year is one year, and all the cards are in Suzuki's hand...ala Spies in 2009.

MCN newpaper also reports that Suzuki has secured CV as well, and they seen to be suggesting that CV will be the senior rider on the team.

Ducati could just as easily support Barros, and you would have to think that Melandri is looking at his future with Ducati...so he'd be willing and trying to help number 27 and team Red get more points off numbers 46 and 26

I'm a little shocked tbh. I guess that confirms Melandri at Ducati then? As far as I can see Suzuki was his only other option.

Good move for Suzuki IMO, Capirossi's been around a long time, and he knows how the others bikes are working.

He's not gonna be around much longer, but he'll bring a wealth of knowledge to the team, and that can only be good foir Suzuki.

The old hand and the young gun is always a good line up for any team.

Well I understand this from Loris point of view, it's probably the best offer he's got. Staying at Ducati getting paid less and watching your teammate beat the crap out of you day in day out must be unbearable.

So he could chose between Suzuki and Kawasaki (supposedly), Suzuki (IMO) has a better bike and Kawa will be John's team (he brings sponsor an all) and his position at Suzuki will be better.

Edwards doesn't mind it

That's harsh man....but equally funny.

I would be very surprised if this happened. It doesn't seem to me that CV is ready or able to be lead rider. I am assuming that he and John had similar equipment and that he didn't run much better than mid pack for 2 years, other than a few odd times, and that Hopper was considerably faster on average.

The real loser??? Yes, if Suzuki doesn't land Melandri then they will lose the championship for several years to come.

Hmm. I'm surprised. If this pans out to be correct (and MCN have been wrong in the past) I'd see it as a retrograde move for Capirossi. One year on a Suzuki, mid-pack will see him retire for sure. Why not just go now Capirex?

I always thought Ducati was his long-fought-for dream ride. To see him leave with a degree of reported sourness with the team is surprising. It's only been half a season since he was 3rd in the championship after all. How fickle Ducati must be to give him the boot; this saga probably means they do indeed have first dibs on Melandri as I reported in motogpblog.com a few days ago.

Now, who for the second Kwak? Come on Westie, sign up!

CV was lead rider at TenKate WSBK, and did a fine job for them...so why sould he not be able to be a lead rider?

Suzuki's only real loss was not getting Biaggi in to ride the 800 instead of Capirossi...

Still not good enough yet to be lead developer for motogp until he's a regular in the dry podium finisher. Whereas Capirossi would be. And Biaggi? Totally capable but what about his sponsors clashing with Rizla and all that stuff. Suzuki isn't known for paying big money so I don't think it will happen unless Biaggi takes a cut to get back in the series. Great rider IMO. Worth the pain of dealing with his temperament.

Biaggi's main problem is Honda's ban, not the sponsor (not that he has any now that Camel retired)

And Capirossi, despite his experience, is not a good development rider at all (as he said himself many times).
