Can Spies do it?

The final race of the AMA SBK season is approaching and Mladin is in the lead by three points. Spies won the pole and the race the last time out at Laguna; However, Mladin is on a roll. Laguna will be a huge test for Spies. Mladin has the championship by the throat. If I were betting money on it, I wouldn't bet on Spies derailing the Australian freight train.

What about you guys? Do you think Spies can do it? Hopefully the race is close.

I hope he does because im not a big Mladin fan.I admire his abilities but dont like him as a person. Im not a huge Spies fan either. With that said,I have been to the last 2 events and have watched Mladin win 4 strait races and in the process,i have seen Spies start to crack because of the pace that Mladin is setting. He ran of track at VIR and went down in Atlanta.I cant imagine him playing a points game just to snatch it away in the last race. This will be a big test for Spies as far as his career goes.If he does snatch the title, that will show what he is made of.

Qualifying should be interesting. If Mladin wins pole, then Spies will have to lead the most laps and win the race. If Mat goes up by four points, Spies will need 5 to win the title since Mladin would win a tie-breaker with his win total this year.

Another thing to ponder: if Spies loses the title, how will it affect his shot at a Moto GP ride?

I think Mladin will do it, but then again I'm a fan so what would I know? Mat will win at least 1 race and it being the usual 2 horse event if he doesn't win the other he'll be second and clinch the title AGAIN!!

when is it, this weekend? I want to watch it. Is it a double header or just one race?

Spies is better than Mat on Laguna... $5 on the Texan

Only 1 race? Should be pretty exciting then! Look for Mat to seal the title!

The silly thing is that Mladin does not have to win the race to win the title...

Mat just has qualify 1st and/or lead the most laps over spies and finish 2nd behind Spies and Mat still win the title by 1 point or a tie and decided by the number of victories...

The solution is that for the final race they should do away with the bonuses and let the best man win the race and the title!

When was the last time a champion HAD to win the final race of the year to win the title? What is silly is the idea of changing the rules for one race, just to effect the result.

It is a single race. The race will be on next weekend.

It's nice to see that you actually want to watch and AMA race.

I doubt Spies is really worried about his chances for Moto GP. It's a subject he has seemed reluctant to discuss at length - it's well known that he's terrified of flying. Last time Suzuki requested his presense in Japan to do testing, he outright refused - tho Mladin was there with bells on. My guess is Spies would have gone, no problema, if it hadn't involved flying.
..... Guess I'd like to Mladin win. Neither of the two are warm cuddly guys personalty-wise (at least not on camera) but I always get the feeling Mladin is just a good ole boy not interested in small talk. But Spies always seems like a Southern Fried frat-boy with a borderline personality. He reminds me of guys I used to know in school, who liked to get drunk on weekends and go around beating up Mexicans just for laughs. Totally gives me the creeps.

Wow
An Ama superbike race that means something.
I'm more interested in the supersport race.
The top 3 are within 9 points of each other and there at least
5 or 6 guys that can podium. That race will be a lot tighter

I could really care less about the Suberbike title anymore.....It should be renamed the Suzuki Cup.....

On the other hand, the Supersport series is one of the most competitive series I have seen all year....Should be a great sporting finish!

If Mat is going to bin it, it will be here. I think he'll push really hard to stay with Spies and may end up face down. I'd rather see him put his balls on the line then ride around like a ...... They should just let these guys start first, get through the first corner then start the rest of the pack, everyone else is battling for 3rd anyway.

Spies should take it, either way Suzuki sweep the entire season and Yates has the chance to make it 1-2-3 championship finish. Now if only Jordan could 'afford' some Yoshimura parts
