Qualifying should be interesting. If Mladin wins pole, then Spies will have to lead the most laps and win the race. If Mat goes up by four points, Spies will need 5 to win the title since Mladin would win a tie-breaker with his win total this year.
Another thing to ponder: if Spies loses the title, how will it affect his shot at a Moto GP ride?
I doubt Spies is really worried about his chances for Moto GP. It's a subject he has seemed reluctant to discuss at length - it's well known that he's terrified of flying. Last time Suzuki requested his presense in Japan to do testing, he outright refused - tho Mladin was there with bells on. My guess is Spies would have gone, no problema, if it hadn't involved flying.
..... Guess I'd like to Mladin win. Neither of the two are warm cuddly guys personalty-wise (at least not on camera) but I always get the feeling Mladin is just a good ole boy not interested in small talk. But Spies always seems like a Southern Fried frat-boy with a borderline personality. He reminds me of guys I used to know in school, who liked to get drunk on weekends and go around beating up Mexicans just for laughs. Totally gives me the creeps.
