Can Spies do it?

If Mat is going to bin it, it will be here. I think he'll push really hard to stay with Spies and may end up face down. I'd rather see him put his balls on the line then ride around like a ...... They should just let these guys start first, get through the first corner then start the rest of the pack, everyone else is battling for 3rd anyway.

Spies should take it, either way Suzuki sweep the entire season and Yates has the chance to make it 1-2-3 championship finish. Now if only Jordan could 'afford' some Yoshimura parts

I dont know if you have been to any of the races but it looks like they are given a head start. At Road Atlanta,i was watching from the back stretch and by the time they got to me on the first lap they led by over a second.

I've watched all rounds. Mat is a pretty ordinary starter and if hes stuck behind anyone other than Spies hes getting held up a lot. I totally agree if one of the Suzuki boys is out front and the other is stuck in traffic a 1 second lead is almost a certainty after one lap. Not that I don't want the other guys to race hard, but none of them can run the pace of Spies and Mladin. Its frustrating to see the Yamabus in front of the Suzuki for 1-2 laps. Get out of the way and let these two go for it.

There was an interesting interview with Jordan online a few months ago, I forget the site, and one of the things he talked about was how much priority the factory team gets and how long it takes for some of the parts to get to the private teams. It was an interesting read in general and I think the link to it was posted in its own thread on here.

Way to be Ben! Capturing the title for the Republic. Victory by 1 point. What a great season!

As far as him failing to test in Japan, there are other details involved. He had other committments and his heart wasn't in it so he respectfully declined. Schwantz got wind of it, and gave Spies a piece of his mind for not being a leader. Spies called Suzuki but they said it was too late, and said Spies was going to have $50,000 withheld for transport, travel and track access. That's 50,000 Ben may already have committed elsewhere.

Typical school-girl race drama. Everyone is always more dedicated than everyone else. Righteous indignation abounds. Whiny old people trying to tell youngins how it is. Dumb youngins being oblivious to any sense of team. Group dynamic pontification from the back office and all the rest. Oh well. Spies can't really complain he started the snowball rolling.

I wonder if Mladin is thinking "If only I got pole!"

I finally watched the race on Sunday and managed to avoid all spoilers. Spies impressed me with that ride. Mladin has been very strong this year, especially leading up to this final race, and by the time he had led the most laps I thought he had enough in him to win and then Spies pulled that move at the Corkscrew and it was game over!

Spies stepped up, took the pole point and won the most important race of his season. He did well under the pressure and Mladin's dominance this year.

Well done to both of them. All AMA Superbike race wins this year have been between Mladin and Spies.
