Don't know what all the fuss is...really it's what some journalist reported.Jeremy's always been a nice guy. I don't think he was being malicious. THen again...maybe I'm just too trusting. Or maybe I'm just a mindless cheerleader. GO VALE! GO MARCO! Snap out of mindless cheerleading mode
Last Sunday Italian TV interviewed Rossi after his winning the beemer..and the first thing they said is 'So this is your reply to Biaggi's win yesterday' or something. What da fck? You should have seen his face! Biaggi's ridden off into the sunset world of WSB and STILL journalists are trying to get a fight out of it!
Journalists create jobs for themselves by stirring things up. It's what they do. They must be sitting back laughing their heads off right now. LIke someone said, it's easy to interpret things any way you like. Tis a fact Nicky won 2006. Tis also a fact that Camel Yamaha team did not get their act together all season and in my opinion were far from being up to their rider's standards. But I can't believe all this bickering is still going on. If 2006 was Nicky's only shot at being World Champion...then fine. Just let the kid enjoy it dammit! Rossi was the first to congratulate him. He's a sportsman and is the first to understand that you win some and you lose some. WHether it was the team, him or a combination of both is irrelevant. The guy's won 7 world titles for chrissake..does he really need to prove anything to anyone? He is one of the all time greats...not even the most hardcore Anti-Rossi guy can take that away from him. Not even if he never wins another race. And if Nicky's got it in him to shut the world up by winning it another 5 times..well good on him. I just hope he does so with enough flair and self-confidence that people will stop banging on about how it wasn't he who won it but someone else who lost it...ie I hope that if he wins it again he does it by winning some races goddamit. I know it's the points that count...but as a fan of motorcycle racing, high speed, high risks and high adrenalin rushes, it seems kind of against the spirit of the whole thing that the championship can be won by playing it safe. I think hardcore motogp fans feel a bit 'cheated' by that and that is why these debates just keep going on and on and on. I know it's happened in the past and it will keep happening..but it doesn't feel right somehow. And Nicky brigade please don't hang me. I'm not taking anything away from Nicky. I LIKE Nicky.

Great post!

That was long, and i think some very good points were included, thanks for that bikergirl.

However, thisis not me trying to stir .... up, but i have noticed in fact that its the hardcore rossi fans who all seem to feel cheated. Almost all of the hardcore motgp fans, regardless of favorite rider seem to be pretty thrilled by last year.

Good grief you're right! That WAS long. I didn't realise the 'writing long winded self-satisfied smug posts' disease was contagious. I will check myself into rehab immediately. Apologies all around.
<

As for Tom's comments...I was thrilled by 2006. I loved the fact it came down to the last race. But I still prefer a champion who can and does win races. Just call it a personal preference. Right now for example, I'm having sleepless nights at the thought Marco won't be challenging anyone on those Bridgestones. What can you do? I'm just mentally deranged.

You gonna lower Burgess to Pig's level for a little trash talking like that Jumkie? I mean, sure it was outta line, but this is the man who helped the greatest rider ever to 5 premier class world titles....

Can it be this forum is fuelling the gossip columns rather than the other way round?

Oh...and what few things exactly? I distinctly remember telling you to get your mind outta the gutter!

Yes this is a fair point, i was disapointed to read this comments, but JB still gets high respect overall, and he is not in Puigs league.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Tom @ Feb 28 2007, 05:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Well yes i of course lost respect for him equally, except my respect started lower for him. But i don't believe for a second he "had it coming". I am not violent so i believe you cannot ever justify starting a fight.

so your saying...if you and i were on a race track at full balls...and comming out of a corner i elbow you and, you into the dirt at 200k...you wouldn't be pissed??........come on.

cause tell you what..i have a VERY long fuse, but that right there would have been enough for me to go look for the fella and DROP him where he stood..

PS: Burgess doesn't make love to his boys like Puig.

Don't worry about it, i think he'll be fine. I believe in him, Honda and Bridgestone.

Well I dunno about that. They really wanted him this year and in the end Marco chose to stay with Fausto. Not with Honda but specifically with Fausto. And Fausto Gresini is a Honda man. I'd love to see Marco on a Ducati and frankly I think that when Capirex retires that seat should be his. But the old boy's still got plenty in him

i really was hopin that either marco or nick would have ended up on the duc. when loris retires i think we'll see 1 of these guy's ridin the duc!

Dunno about plenty, he may retire after this season, if not i would be shocked if he continued beyond 2008. ALso, Rossi will have that 2009 Ducati seat so there.
