Rossi has been defeated once in every formula he has ridden in at world championship level. So to complete the pattern he must win his title back this year and loose it in 2008.

Actually the usual pattern is for him to lose the first and win the second year. I hope you're wrong Tom!!

2006 was a random anomaly which as a scientist I wouldn't include in my calculations

I guess it's because all the Machiavellian plotting, scheming and psychological warfare originate from Jeremy really. Vale's just this innocent pawn in his evil game. Bwa Ha Ha!!!!

“Just this innocent pawn in his evil game”… that can crack track records on and on!

I’ll give you the “all the Machiavellian plotting, scheming and psychological warfare originate from Jeremy really”… He seems so quiet!

I don't worry about the racing though. Pedrosa is strong, the Ducaties will be there, lots of other hondas, an ocational suzuki and kawasaki, and maybe even Edwards :)
And while last year was very exciting and it had quite a few very good races, we did miss a few of the frontrunners on many races and many races with close finishes were still very static in the positions. My over all impression is that there were more close racing in 2005 than in 2006.

^ I see what you mean.

Even though Rossi dominated 05 statistically, the races were often very close and a joy to watch.

At least there was more elbowing each other at the front! This adds a bit of excitement too.

The only logical thing that could explain Assen FP is that Yamaha's "anti-crash-Rossi-invincibility" switch must have failed...

Yes i was a little disapointed about this comment. BUt perhaps its just smack talk to show confidence in their chances this year. Or perhaps he was lying to seem nice when he was full of praise for nicky at the end of last year. Who knows

Either way, talk like that is reserved for know nothing nine to fivers like myself. Not one of the most respected guys in the paddock. I just assumed he would continue his PR with a bit of professionalism. Seems as though the taste of defeat has left a bitter taste in Jerry's mouth. Good.

Rossi has to be odds on favorite with Pedrosa second.Dont count out Hayden,i watched that kid grow up in AMA and he has that fire in his gut that you look for in a rider.Good kid and helluva rider.I think him and Edwards go 3-4.

i think burgess is correct, the better rider didnt win,but the better team did and that does not say alot for burgess and his crew.

I agree..I just worry when people get too cocky or confident (i.e. talk too much ....) and jynx themselves..

Well i think career wise rossi stacks up as the "better" rider. But last year Hayden performed better than rossi, and anyone else, that is why he won it. So last year hayden was the better rider.

Ialso agree, jeremy could be more sporting in defeat, but the annoying this about him is that he is a straight talking ausie with loads of experience and a million and one world titles. The chances are Rossi will win this year and he will appear correct. It changes nothing though, things cannot be certain and talk like that does not impress me.

all this bickering....

lets imagine a Moto GP where there was no ".... talking" or intimidation, where all riders and crews got along, were best friends, openned doors for each other, held hands and sang KUM BA YA....

.... THAT!.......i wanna see a fist fight in the paddock!
LET THE .... TOSSIN COMMENCE!!

Thats not at all how i feel. I like a rivalry and all that, but i prefer it to remain on the track as much as possible. I lost a lot of respect for rossi when he and Biaggi had that punch up.

i would have put it... hayden, repsol hrc, performed more consistently than rossi, camel yamaha, thus winning the championship, remember it is a team sport and if you an hrc man the rider is only a small part of that team altho i think hrc talk ...., but you can be the best rider of all time but if the bike breaks your buggered.
i think were putting words into burgess's mouth,he didnt mention 06 season i dont think,he just said the better rider didnt win and i agree,im saying the better team won because they had the better more reliable package for 06.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (roger-m @ Feb 28 2007, 11:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>because they had the better more reliable package for 06.

Including a better more reliable rider who stays on his bike when it matters.
