Burgess And Crew To Follow Rossi To Ducati

Nicky has now become what Colin Edwards was to Rossi (and is to Tech3). A TESTER. His results are of no consequence. While Nicky remains Rossi's teammate, his career is over. Of this there is NO DOUBT. Les anybody forget exactly why Valentino has abandoned Yamaha and moved to Ducati, because of the audacity of the Japanese maker to give their riders equal treatment--something unacceptable and unconscionable in the mind of Rossi. Nicky Hayden has become a pond in the life of Valentino Rossi--Jumkie circa 2010

.....

It is interesting that Burgess cut through all the ...., and completely upended all of the speculation from a lot of tossers about the Valencia test.

There's not much point testing in the wet or with an athlete who's not at 100%.

The man is a magician with a motorcycle, and also, a professor in politics. A mixture that explains his unsurpassed success.

But honestly J. Even if Nicky are terribly nice guy and all, he has never been the fastest guy has he? He won with his consistency in '06 but the following years has been rater embarrassing hasn't it. I mean, from a championship defense POV. After all, if we give credit were credit due it is not Hayden's the four last seasons, is it? Just like Edwards he has become a valued member of a team for his consistency, work ethics and his experience that enable adequate feedback. I fail to see that this has anything to do with Rossi. Best scenario would be a better bike through Ducatis increased effort and VR/JB setup and development skills where he could fight more regularly for the top 5 or even top 3 positions.

He would have done better had the rules not changed to 800cc. Is he the tip of the spear?.....no, is he close to the tip, hell yea!

On the Yam/Rossi issue - I think we have seen what happens time & time again what happens when you have 2 number 1 riders/drivers = IT DOESNT WORK! (Hamilton - Alonso in F1)

Rossi probably has the biggest ego on the grid, infact im suprised it actually fits inside a helmet but to put Lorenzo next door is just suicide & look what has happended.

A clean sweep of all the championships two years running. Hiring the best two riders possible is an approach that has worked many times, if one falls the other is there.

Its not the equal equipment i think Vale was miffed at, it was after all his AND BURGESS's work along comes Lorenzo & starts demanding this and that without doing nothing to earn it & Yamaha just giving it to him, that aint right. At least Casey earnt his .... by doing what he did on a bike knowone else could ride!

Explain how Casey 'earned' his 07 ducati anymore than Lorenzo 'earned' his position in Yamaha from the middle of 09. Or if you want to suggest neither of them earned the positions they got in factory teams then how would you justify Rossi earning easily the best team in the paddock as a rookie.

If JB and Rossi wanted all their work to benefit themselves only they should have built their own bike as an independant manufacturer

Your post, called "sensible" by Talps completely ignores the reality of Nickys defense. But you guys wer more than willing to tell us Rossi wasnt winning becuz: his engine was detuned, he was riding a tech3 with fiat stickers, yamaha was sabotaging his bike, bstone was giving him .... tires, his shoulder injury was impedeing, yamaha told him to play second fiddle, etc. Wasnt it u who with the help of ur xray vision told us Rossi was using "less" TC than Stoner from ur behind the barrier at the track assessment? Honestly Babel, u wer the last of a particular type of fan who i've now given up on having a meaningful conversation.

The only real truth that u guys claims was the idea that at this level, if u dont hav the best, u will not compete. Which year can u tell me that Hayden was #1 rider?

Babel, Talps, etal, u know everything u guys say is ..... U fool no sane person here.

Nicky is unfortunate because he got the measure of the Gibernau's and Melandri's of this world in 06, but since then several riders have come into the series and become better than him. Rossi has raised his game to match but Nicky hasn't made that next step. But he'll never stop trying

If JB and Rossi wanted all their work to benefit themselves only they should have built their own bike as an independant manufacturer

And they did, to a degree in 2000-01-beating the factory team in the process.

The politics and development trickle at Honda then subsequently pushed them out of Repsol. Yamaha was probably the closest thing to an independent manufacturer catering to their requirements at the time.

I believe the failures in 2006-07 certainly contributed to the signing of Jorge significantly, it has certainly worked for them as they've scooped the field for three years running, but as with Repsol Honda-we know how hard it can be to continue a 1-2 dominance.

And they did, to a degree in 2000-01-beating the factory team in the process.

What are you talking about, their bike was produced by HRC, even if you aren't convinced it was full factory it was still made by the worlds biggest motorcycle manufacturer, the opposite of independant.

I still suspect that both rossi and stoner at least wouldn't mind a nastro-azzurro type operation next year, just with priority as the equipe's number 1 rider from the start. Whilst rossi's beer bike was no kr3 and has been described as a quasi-(as in bloody near) factory bike, and I have never heard that burgess left hrc's employ for that year, I think (repsol) honda were looking for criville to win a second title and to grooming valentino for the future, and were surprised both by how rapidly he developed and by how alex didn't.

It looked like a 100% sensible post to me as well Talpa and Babel...

Hayden doomed because Rossi is his team mate...

oblivious not Rossi fans then. There seems to be a anybody but rossi brigade here.

Hayden knows Ducati will get better.

from Hayden

"Next year I'll be teamed with some guy named Rossi who knows a little something about bikes! We're going to have a strong squad - I won't predict results but I have no doubt this team will have some real passion, real worth ethic and a lot of fun. It is the start of a new era at Ducati and it is an honour for me to be a part of it," added the 2006 world champion.

I wonder if Nicky believes he can beat Rossi straight up in the same team. I hope he does.

You don't follow GP very profoundly do you. I don't have time to educate you, but suffice to say, if at any point in Rossi's career he was treated like Hayden was in 07, the sport would have half its following. Surely he would have retired, hell the man threatened retirement if he didn't get the Bridgestones. Big46, I haven't had many exchanges with you, so for the moment, I will not classify you in the Babels Talps, Rossiofskys & J4rnos of the world. But if you are really interested, read up the 07 package provided by HRC for its "team".

Hell, just this year alone, the stink of Dorna's back dealings in favor of a simple post season test under the threat of Rossi not finishing the season would be enough to convince you, that is if you could extrapolate (unlike the list of members I gave you above). But its not in the press release so you won't believe it, right? Well I never read a press release where Honda allowed Puig to punish Hayden for two years as a vendetta for him winning the title. But most informed sane people know that's exactly what happened. Its criminal this was allowed to happen to a person who's honest goal was to participate in goodfaith what is to be an authentic competition. Who would advocate against the forces that have proven to be no more or less than real life power politics of Repsol-Puig-Dorna and by default Honda, who were all complicit?

Tom, you've had some rather sober posts lately. I think you (should) know that in this game, nothing can be compared straight up but in combination with the package & team they have to race. So in saying others have come in the series and have bested Nicky, I'd say consider their support and rider-friendly dynamic of their package among factors. Its amazing to me how so many peeps, even here, who I consider informed of the sport (that even includes peeps like the list I gave Big46) still consider the winner always the best at any given time. On one side you have the mouse trap, that is the effectiveness of the bike, but on the other side (and in recent memory, it seems to have become even more important) the influence in the sport is crucial to success. Yet peeps still treat this as an individuals sport and hence individual accolades are deemed the end all to be all. This is not like a one on one street fight where the best fighter wins. This is a sport where the governing body takes real sides on its contestants and influences changes by advocating or turning a blind eye. The technical aspect of package is entirely another aspect of rider success. There is a not so complex reason why Suzuki and now defunct Kawasaki did so poorly.

You asked if Nicky thinks he could beat Rossi straight up on the same team. What kind of "same" are you referring to, the kinda of "same" Nicky had with Pedro in 07/08 or the kind of "same" Lorenzo and Rossi had this season? I think even you can extrapolate from what transpired with the Yamaha arrangement and subsequent exit by Rossi, that this kind of "same" is not possible on a team hence forth with Rossi. Anyway, regarding the spirit of your question, I have no doubt that if this was a rookies cup style competitions, that is in theory a total spec bike where all parties had equal package, that we would see a scrap between all the aliens including Nicky and a few others.

Junkie

Who do you think you are? No 1 chief armchair fan. You know nothing about me.

Dorna’s back dealings!!!!! To let Rossi test the Ducati.....Where did you hear this?

Hayden treated badly in 07....Honda built a bike for Pedrosa.... I agree with you there.

Will Ducati treat Hayden the same way Honda did? No chance.

Lighten up mate...you have no need and no right to educate anyone on this forum...Have a bit of respect.

Kind regards Trevor

I must say that I do agree that sometimes we are all guilty of discussing the politics of motogp a little bit too much instead of focusing on just the racing. That being said tho, there are some things that you just can't deny in the sport. I like to give every1 the benefit of the doubt though. Politics and all that bs aside, I still consider the best rider as the one at the end of the year with the championship.
