Blake Young to race at Donington

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Jumkie @ Jun 24 2009, 09:43 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Yes, I agree with you. Youth is where its at. But would you agree with me, that if this is the only factor they (teams/factories) are look for in riders, than its rather short sighted? Add frankly, I think some teams and factories are smarter than that, the thing is in Mladin's case, he just doesn't have the desire to challenge himself against the big boys.

Let me as you something Sacky, and anybody else:

1. Which is the greater accomplishment: 7 AMA titles or 3 WSBK titles?

Not just youth, but a future. Mladin doesn't seem like a team player. He seems like he gives a .... about anyone but himself. Would you waste your time with an individual who only seems like he wants a paycheck? I think that Suzi passed on him for these reasons and he passed on WSBK Suzi for these reasons as well. It's mutual.

I guess I am looking for answers. The fact that everyone thought that he turned down the Miller ride and then to find out he hadn't even been offered the Miller ride is mind boggling to me.

The greater accomplishment would be the 3 WSBK championships IMO.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Cankles @ Jun 24 2009, 10:14 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>I know what you're saying, but if he wants his family in the US, then the super long wsbk season is another drawback. the NTW (NASCAR on Two Wheels) season is shorter with bigger breaks in between races, iirc. He can fly himself across the country, then when the race is done, he can fly himself back home. (he is a pilot with planes). He doesn't need to pack his kids on a bus to travel.

Trust me, I am only giving another perspective that I understand. I agree with a lot of what you're saying. I also agree that the guy is an enigma.

And it's Cankles, btw

.........! Racing is this guys career, That job is what feeds his family. Wsbk would be like a promotion, a step up in his career. Its not like he is some amateur chasing a dream and his family would be suffering by him going to wsbk. If you ask every single guy in AMA BSB and all national series if theyd like to move up to wss or wsbk they would jump at the chance, because thats the point of being a profesional racer, you want to keep on moving up the ladder until eventualy you reach the ultimate goal which is moto gp. But maladin is content being the big fish in a small pond, If he has too much pride to run mid pack he shouldnt use his family as an excuse. What if Pedrosa would have never left the 250s and right now been a 7x 250 champ would he be as celebrated as Rossi? I highly doubt it! This is one of the reasons why I have stoped paying attention to AMA racing besides all theyre ........ it sucks to keep on watching maladin win every year or watching the guys who beat him move up to bigger and better things (Spies and Hayden) This ruins it for guys like Hayes Zemke Hacking who arent good enough to be SBK or Moto Gp Champs but do have a good chance of being AMA champs . So .... Matt Maladin .... him up his stupid ...!!!!!!

Im Sorry! i didnt mean to hurt your feelings. I was listening to Tupac's "hit em up" when i wrote this

No, you didn't hurt my feelings. It would take more than that to hurt my feelings.

But Tupac does explain it. I would suggest listening to something good. LOL!

I like all types of musics even country. i saw in your other post you used to fight MMA. Hit em up is a great song to listen to before a fight. I actually grew up with Joe "daddy" Stevenson we used to coach kids wrestling back in the day

Cool man. Congrats to him for winning this weekend. Super cool guy. I still train, especially in bjj. Just not competing in MMA right now. Being 38 with a couple of kids and a wife makes it rough. I still teach the kid's BJJ and MMA program at my school, too.

I was a wrestler but lately all ive been doing is drinking beer working and riding. Im contemplating getting into BJJ or muay thai to shed off about 20 extra poounds ive gained from drinking. Im too young to let my self go

Do it, man. I love it. I can probably direct you to a good school. Where do you live? pm me.[/hijack]

Yes, Blake is good, but does anyone else think they are throwing him to the wolves?

it wont hurt him

I was actually being sarcastic when I said, "well it must be true then". Who knows the truth, even if he didn't get offered this ride, he sure turned down years of what might have been a great WSBK career. You know Sacky, the funny thing about this stuff is that even though I don't like the fact that this guy stayed in the (NTW) AMA all these years, its also been a treat to see such a precise technician on the track. I admit, I wasn't convinced that it was all rider until Spies started to show how good Mladin really is, so in a way its cool to have our own outstanding rider to see in the States. But having said all that, I still think he should have gone to the world stage.

For a moment I thought CK and Cranky were gonna fight, that is until they found out they both have a passion for fighting. Go figure.

Anyway, nah I don't think they are throwing Blake to the wolves, the kid is outstanding. He's the real deal and he's hungry as hell. I'd say he's like Nicky Hayden--lots of talent, humble, and very hungry.

I was reading Neil Hodgson's column in a recent Road Racer X, and he maintained that Maladin was one of the most talented riders he's ever raced against - but then I suppose when he was in GP he wasn't exactly ever in the same race with Vale was he? - Unlike JT last year at Qatar and for a glorious few laps at Phillip Island

Guys, we have beat the Mladin thing to death for years. For all the reasons stated and one big one no one seems to remember. WSBK DONT PAY ..... Mladin makes 3 times the money in NTW [i like it]
that he can make in WSBK. He makes more riding Superstock bikes than 80% of the riders in Moto Gp. If he somehow thought his life was incomplete,he would hop the pond and ride for peanuts, but he seems very content with his life.

To me Riding isnt about money! Racing is about being the best, Not the richest. If he is just in it for the money, He is just pathetic. Honestly if some one offerd me 1 million dollars to never ride again id say No! other than ..., Riding is one thing i cant live with out.

No one said he was in it JUST for the money. Its a job period, and a damned dangeroud one at that.Like i said, for reasons stated [ family, travel, living in Europe and all that goes with that, language barriers, cuisine, repressive taxes ,liberal governments etc] he chose a much better situation for him and his family. He tried racing in Europe and didnt like it. You must be young, because everything revolves around money weather you like it or not and if someone offers me 3 times the money to do half the work and put up with a 3rd of the ........,guess what?

Sorry man, if he had a chance for that Miller ride then this is all ......... He could still have his riches and the glory too. I don't know if we will ever know the whole story.

Everything does revolve around Money if you let it! That Miller ride was his chance for him to prove he had the balls to jump in there with the big boys. He did ride in europe and maybe its Not the lifestyle he didnt like, its the fact he didnt have that #1 plate. you are right about being offerd a lot of money to do less work but that only applies to pointless ........ jobs. If rossi was to get offerd a .... load of money to come to AMA do you think he would take it? No because in the Motorcycle world the best rider in the world is the Moto Gp champ! not the Ama Not the BSB and not even the WSBK champ
