I'm not too keen on the technology of swingarms.
From my Hot Wheels bike collection I have an old 916 and I know those were beautiful conquering bikes and have one sided swingarm. So does the MV I think??
What are the pros and cons of the configurations?
single sided was developed for endurance racing like the bol dor suzuka 8 hr stuff like that. generaly speaking a double sided unit is more ridged so to make the single sided ridged they have to make it quite heavey, 2/3 of this weight is considered unsprung weight so the heaver the swing arm the worse it is. so
single side arm pro/
easy wheel removal chain adjustment and wheel alignment
cons/ heavy in the unsprung weight
double sided pros/ because of its shape it can be made light but still ridged.
cons/ ....... to change wheels and align the wheel altho there are systems now that make this an easy job, just look how quick the motogp teams change a wheel.
