New Ducati 1098, now they've ditched the horrible little round lights of the 999 and returned to the 996-998 style it sooo much better!

Is it a single-sided swingarm?
I can see the left side but the right side looks dark to me.
Does anyone want to clarify?

it's single sided.

Aren't double sided swingarms better though?
I'm not too keen on the technology of swingarms.

From my Hot Wheels bike collection I have an old 916 and I know those were beautiful conquering bikes and have one sided swingarm. So does the MV I think??

What are the pros and cons of the configurations?

single sided was developed for endurance racing like the bol dor suzuka 8 hr stuff like that. generaly speaking a double sided unit is more ridged so to make the single sided ridged they have to make it quite heavey, 2/3 of this weight is considered unsprung weight so the heaver the swing arm the worse it is. so
single side arm pro/
easy wheel removal chain adjustment and wheel alignment
cons/ heavy in the unsprung weight
double sided pros/ because of its shape it can be made light but still ridged.
cons/ ....... to change wheels and align the wheel altho there are systems now that make this an easy job, just look how quick the motogp teams change a wheel.

WSB rules state they'll have to run that single swingarm. It must be made of super light high tech Roswell type stuff then.

Is that a new rule for the big twins, Skid? I think the swingarm looks horn. Big steely motogp halfie thingy.
