Best rider never to win a world title?

Be Fair now Pinky...Hayden got the title according to the rules no matter, and the rules do not discriminate between rider abilities....it is all down to points...

I said if we're going to talk about world superbikes, maybe he should have won a title in that class. I knew he was a world champion, just maybe he deserved a wsb title too.

yeah coz rossi chocked. thus my sig. he deserved to win the championship based on the points.

despite what people think about pedrosa, hrc threw 110% support behind hayden, marketing reasons and the american market, its a dream come true for an american World champion, but has come to the realisation, that hayden is never ever going to be a title contender again, let alone a WC winner again.

In the post Doohan era, Max then Sete; before that Barros & Mamola
<

Sete had the highest total of any championship contender that didn't win the title, which is an objective measure.

In a subjective sense, I also believe Gibernau was also the most talented rider to never win the premier class title, with Biaggi a close second.

with total wins in a winning championship season hes in that category.

1. randy or sete (i can't split these two, sete when he went to ducati had to much injurys and the bike was capriex's bike and he never felt comfortable)
2. Max
3. barros i suppose?

i would agree with this, if rossi wasn't around sete could of been a 2-3time champion as there was nobody close to sete or rossi in terms of talent in that era.

as would biaggi if it wernt for doohan and rossi
<

I would have to say Max Biaggi for sure, he is the most talented rider of the modern era who didn't win a premier class world title. Bad luck really in an era dominated by Doohan and then Rossi. Max did win 4 x 250cc World titles and was always the bridesmade, never the bride when it came to winning the premier class championship.

As for World Superbikes, Chili was the best rider not to win the world title with Haga a close second. Both riders are superb racers, can dominate on their day - absolutely unbeatable - but due to inconsistency and a tendenancy to win or crash, they could not win a world title.
