Aoyama to Repsol Honda

Not to take anything away from Aoyama, but Honda put in some serious work to win that final 250 title.

Aoyama won the champioship with 261 points and 4 wins, the next Honda rider finished 6th with 122 points. Aoyama was the best rider in the 250cc class that year.

I don't think De Rosa is in the same class as Aoyama. But like I said in my initial post, nothing to take anything away from Aoyama. But he was on a competitive package that season, which hadn't been the case for Honda for a number of years.

Which just goes to show that only being fast just doesn't cut it in this sport. Randy de Puniet is also very fast, but I don't see him lifting a motogp title, ever. I am convinced though that if he were on a factory RCV too this year (and if the world were fair, he should be), he would make Sic look a whole lot less impressive.

On the other hand, Hayden, much like Aoyama, does not have so much outright speed, but he too took a championship through consitency. In this light, having someone like Dovi around may not be as bad of an idea for HRC as many think. It only takes two injuries (Stoner and Lorenzo) and he'd be the most likely canditate for this years title.

Very good point
<
He has been this years quiet achiever.

Well as much as i wasn't thrilled by Aoyamas ride because i like the guy, its nice to be reminded amongst all the critisism (especially around here) just how much difference the rider makes in bike racing. He was riding the best bike on the grid and Lorenzo passed him like he was on Marquez's moto2.

Was it actually Dani's bike? With one of Dani's engines? And the effort behind Dani? Or was it a Repsol/Factory Honda promotion exercise? As was the case, sort of, with Rossi's Japanese replacement last season......JB gave a few token tweaking gestures for Yamaha
<

If it was the former then Hiroshi would be seriously disappointed, it also brings up the question of the Gresini 'Factory' Honda only for Sic, are they both on the same machine in that pit? One would conclude after last weekend that they might be.....potentially making it '5' factory Hondas on the grid. Now that's a lot of feedback.....

I'm pretty sure it was Dani's bike, he has to use Dani's engines and all that.

As for Hiro's normal bike, it isn't what the factory guys have at all. You can see the different air vent on the front and it doesn't have the fancy transmission as far as i know. I wouldn't like to guess what chassis spec he's using as Honda had so many last year, but Elias recently got a 2011 chassis so i would assume that Hiro at least has acccess to one if he wanted it

Aoyama was unlucky there was rain on friday and in the warm up as well. He got little dry running before the race.
