Anyone Read "Single Track Mind: Where to Ducati?"

Allthough I am a staunch supporter of modern scientific inquiry and its value, I wouldn't not say that things become facts because they are published in peer reviewed journals. Not just because the peer review process is not perfect, but because "truths" are never absolute or etnernal. All human knowledge is fallible and therefore uncertain (Popper).

Thank you.  This was the exact response I played for.  So even peer reviewed scientific journals can be fictional.  So everyone, including Krop, should get off the high horse and stop claiming their fiction is more fact than the next bit of fiction.

Many things in the article seem to be straight out normal business practice.  Even if he spoke to no one, contrary to his suggestion, then just about any thinker could have come up with most of the article.

I'm not really following the discussion you guys are having here, so I wouldn't know. But, what I was saying was not that epistemological limitations and shortcomings in the dissemination process imply that all types of inquiry are equally good and everything goes.

Nice.  I wasn't being derogatory to you by the way.

MA is picking and choosing the bits he wants to believe, and flinging some .... around at the same time. Can't really call that a 'discussion'.

I suppose i could make up stuff...which could be "plausible". I've done it actually. :)

Honestly, I think Motorcycle USA is a great publication, and it mystifies me why the allow that man to write about MotoGP. ...., Jum would do about a trillion times better job, and he has had his mind addled with too much mezcal. Actually, even SuperShinya whatever his name is would do a better job.

See my comments in the other thread. This dude is full of ..... It's an entertaining read alright, but it is almost entirely fictional.

Well see above and you will see that it is yourself who flung the .... first.  If you can't handle a bit of .... flung your way then best not fling it at others.  At least I had the balls to call you out where you will actually read it.

So is picking and choosing bits that are believable and those that may not be, less credible than your blank statement that the whole article is fiction?

That it keep having a go rather than sucking it up and saying "yeah I was wrong".

May be a small thing but you can better it by telling Melling what you think of him to his face next time you see him.

I'd love to, but I have never seen him at a race. And I've been to quite a few.

EDIT: Almost as many as Jumkie, by now...

mental,i dont see why you are getting so pissed about that article, melling does not go to races and get facts, his latest bit is about as accurate as the articles he was writing in the 70s, ive known him since about 79, you are backing the wrong horse if you think any of that is fact or researched. its him making a story from his own speculation. sounds more like you are using it to have a go at krops.

Don't be so hard on yourself.  Where as you make every attempt to attend the GPs, my advantage over you is that I can watch the action on my iPad combined with my imagination & debate skills, and formulate "plausible" scenarios of riders that may or maynot return from retirement.

No, we as in i know Frank Melling and that article has no credibility. When he wrote about UK MX years ago he would get some snippets and write a story, i would phone the ..... and say that story is made up and he would say how do you know and i would say because i was there, he would say he was only trying his best, this is exactly how he used to work, a few snippets from another source and we have the truth, bloke is a complete prick, if you really want a laugh go read his books.

This bit had me rolling.

I can make up .... too. What about this: Following persitent questioning of Kevin Schwantz' relevance to modern motorcycle racing by anonymous internet villains, let's call them s and JK, he is coming out of retirement. Oh, wait...

saw the ex wife today (son unwell)and told her about the melling thread and asked her if she remembered anything in perticular and she reminded me of this, our friend had a goggle contract brit MX champs and GPs, he had just won a brit round when a new  to the uk gogle importer offered a few hundred in cash if he wore theirs around his neck on the podium which he did, and then there was an article saying he had signed a mega money deal with this new brand, the truth was after getting his few hundred his contract with his real supplier was terminated and he lost five grand, a real dumb move but nothing like his article.

Who've you seen more frequently: this Melling character or Dean Adams?

In reply to your edit, not a chance.

Dean Adams, no contest. I've seen him multiple times at races. US rounds at least. I have literally never seen Melling at any race, even Silverstone.
