Anyone Read "Single Track Mind: Where to Ducati?"

Thanks for the link. Interesting read.

But I think it's a total crock.

I bet he is enjoying not travelling all the time.

If he did ever come back I would love it to be on a Ducati though.

What about a Phillip Island wildcard? Would still be tough to beat there on any bike.

The story is correct and insightful in many respects, but it is completely wrong regarding the Crutchlow-Ducati (missed) deal. It's actually the opposite... Cal was wanted and almost hired by Guareschi and Preziosi, but it is Audi that blocked the deal and chose Dovi instead, considering him a better choice for a development-intensive phase.

I think the Germans' logical thinking is to develop the bike with Dovi, and then try to hire one of the elite riders. Crutchlow could be again in their short list by that time, if he keeps improving; probably they will closely watch Iannone at the same time, how he develops.

But the prospect of "Stoner reloaded" at Ducati would make any other option pale in comparison and be truly a massive hit, one that I do not doubt Dorna would be happy to fund partially on their own. It's not impossible.

Haha, are you kidding.  We were just rightfully lambasting the barely literate dude who wrote this piece.  Here is the part of the article I found interesting.

Entertaining....but, I lost faith in the credibility of the argument when it was inferred that Dani was not a Championship contender but Cal was?  That's peculiar!  It has very little to do with Cal. I think on the factory Honda or Yam, he would be regularly up front.  Dani is very obviously a "contender," his results can only be interpreted one way and that's that he is contending or competing comfortably against the only other two "contenders.'

Cal is having a great season, he's showing more poise than previous years.  While he's not on a factory bike, he's hardly riding the sled that's been handed to the Ducati boys and other satellite riders.  He should be finishing right where he is.  His bike is not a factory Honda, but it is a capable machine.

As for Stoner's return, I really doubt that.

He already chimed in.  He said Stoner returning to GP has the same probability of SuperShitya getting laid.

See my comments in the other thread. This dude is full of ..... It's an entertaining read alright, but it is almost entirely fictional.

Got ya Krop.

I haven't been able to keep up with the forum much since I've been on the job search.  I came across this article in a LinkedIn Group Discussion actually and wanted to get some second opinions here.

I don't really agree with the writer's assessment of Cal since I need to see more from him in order for me to believe him to be a contender.

The Stoner bit was definitely interesting.  I put myself in Stoner's shoes, and with both VR back on a competitive bike and MM going bonzo, he must be itching to go up against them.  It really would be the most competitive championship we'd ever see if that were to happen.

Ok, I'll take a look.  I haven't been able to keep up here lately.

i like cal but he is not better then dovi and was proven last season. is it just me or does cal get nervous when battling with people i feel like he gets caught up in the fight and will over shoot and run off or have a hard time passing some of the good riders like rossi dovi jorge dani.

Entirely fictional?  Well that defines 99% of what is written by journalist the world over in all categories.  No journalist writes FACT they write there opinion of what they see or hear.  Therefore it is fiction.  FACT is something written in a peer reviewed scientific journal.

From my experience the more "respected" journalists are the ones that have sucked back the kool-aid for the longest.  This is definitely the case in Australia.  These "respected" journalists are usually nothing more than propaganda megaphones for the wealth elite.

As far as the author is concerned he may be a muppet, I don't know his history, but he has at least put a little bit of thought into the article.  Therefore at least it can be classified as thought out fiction rather than regurgitated propaganda fiction which is what we get 99% of the time.

Stoner on a Ducati in 2014.  Whoohoo.  Bring it on! Can't be more fictional than the fiction written in 2010 about how Rossi was going to master the Ducati!

No, we as in i know Frank Melling and that article has no credibility. When he wrote about UK MX years ago he would get some snippets and write a story, i would phone the ..... and say that story is made up and he would say how do you know and i would say because i was there, he would say he was only trying his best, this is exactly how he used to work, a few snippets from another source and we have the truth, bloke is a complete prick, if you really want a laugh go read his books.

Allthough I am a staunch supporter of modern scientific inquiry and its value, I wouldn't not say that things become facts because they are published in peer reviewed journals. Not just because the peer review process is not perfect, but because "truths" are never absolute or etnernal. All human knowledge is fallible and therefore uncertain (Popper).

I don't know him but regarding said article would stand by my initial evaluation, correct in many respects, completely wrong in a couple of areas.

Stoner's return is probably wishful thinking, but hey, if anybody can make that happen, that would be huge.

Ha! The people following the circus are drinking the Kool Aid but the armchair blogger gets points because his theory is plausible despite the fact those most plugged in have said this story is completely rubbish?

No. Everyone drinks the Kool-aid.  But it is FACT that those closer to the source of the kool-aid drink more and soon forget that it is kool-aid.

But lets analyse the article that is so untrue that everyone has their panties in a twist.

He says that Audi have done an analysis of how they can win a World Championship.  Wow.  Really?  They spend millions of dollars a year and have the gall to think how they may maximise the result?

They came to the conclusion that they needed a WC capable rider.  Wow.  Really?  The came to a further conclusion that Hayden and Dovi are not WC capable riders.  Wow.  Really?

Here is one of two parts that could be wrong.  Why Dovi got the ride over Crutchlow?  He suggest that Crutchlow dissed their bike and he is not Italian.  Dovi didn't and is.

The second is Stoner is not enjoying his new life and could be tempted to come back.

But if this is true then there is nothing wrong with the conclusion that if they got him to the discussion table they could throw a lot of money, show him respect and limit the side of the sport that Stoner dislikes.
