But still, the ultimate responsibility is on the rider to know his/her position in terms of place (ie. fifth) and location.

I'd agree .... but to actually stop the guy for a ride through .....

Heres another take .... what if it was Rossi did it .... I mean remember the yellow flag incident ..... I would see disobeying ( or even worse .. not noticing ) yellow flags has far worse possible consequences!!! .... One can expect there even to be marshalls in dangerous positions under yellow flag!!

As a race marshall you get no argument from me on this one.

I am actually aware of riders at club level in Oz who have passed under a yellow flag twice in separate races and were excluded from all racing and told to pack up and go home.

In the case you speak of I can only say that it was an interesting decision that nearly had major repurcussions for the world championship.

I think they decided after Rossi lost the Donnington Victory in whicher year it was that yellow flag penalties cannot be given retroactively, if nobody spots it in the race the rider gets away with it.

Perhaps if nobody had noticed West was out of line until after the race he would have been let off, but that wasn't the case

Yeah, cut him some slack. At least his mistake didn't ruin other people's race.

RDP and OJ have hit nearly everyone in the paddock this season. Guintoli essentially ended a man's career, then took his ride

Pedrosa hit his championship leading teammate last season.

"END" his career???
<
When did Hoffers career even "START"
