Just watched the race last night, damn Bostrom was in it to win it, very impressed with his ride, especially for a first year team. It was really nice to see all of his former Ducati friends/mechanics come out and congratulate him.

Austin...I know you were digging the Bostrom win!

Great races this weekend. I got to see the Superbike race with Arrabbi. Here we are sitting at turn 4. B. Boz would not be denied a win!

Good races by the AMA, although I still would rather the full MotoGP circus (Moto2 & 125's) would come to town instead. Bostrom was hungry for that win. He ran off the track yet managed to regroup and catch back up to Hayes who looked to be struggling a bit in places like the corkscrew. Good ride by Holden on the Monster Suzuki. Points battle is still close.

Almost a shame that Hopper is coming back b/c Holden is riding so well. I'm sure John will improve now that his throttle hand is fixed, but he's coming back into a bad situation. He needs to score podiums (possibly wins) in order to keep the people at M4 and Monster happy, but if he does return to the pointy end, he can't anger Suzuki by taking points off of Hayden.

Holden deserves a ride in this paddock, and I don't envy the politically difficult situation Team Hammer will have to endure when John Hopkins returns.

BTW, does anyone get the feeling that the Sho-air Cycle World Attack Suzuki (too long) team is just a rehearsal for Kawasaki's return with the new ZX-10R?

2 stroke racing is "banned" in California so we'll never see the 125cc

as for Moto2, Laguna has only enough garages for the GP, I highly doubt the moto2 teams would put up pop up tents as garages.

That's why Indy got the whole thing, lots of garages and no California emission laws.

I'm pretty sure they race 2-strokes in California.

All of the big 4 Japanese manufacturers headquarter their North American operations in California. Ducati are there as well. The state legislature control the track so it is only natural that they would support production bike racing for the good of California's economy.

My wrong...

2 stroke racing on close circuit is allowed in California but no new 2 stroke street bike can be licenced in california since 1997

What bugs me is I have never once read or heard a credible source as to exactly why after all these years the AMA still races the same weekend as the Laguna GP? I can completely understand why they had the AMA with them back when "GP racing returned" to Laguna, but those days are over. Clearly MotoGP doesn't need the AMA anymore to help draw fans. Indy has proved that Americans are happy with watching the 125's and 250's (soon to be Moto2). Perhaps its the 125/Moto2 teams themselves? They see it a weekend where they don't have to spend money to race away from fortress Europa? Maybe the AMA has some contract for X years? Who knows, but again, I would love to hear something official on this. Or more importantly that next year the full GP circus will be coming to Laguna.

Strange, no? I've heard a half dozen really compelling reasons, but no one at Dorna has ever mentioned the real reason. I've heard:

1. Yamaha USA pays millions to sponsor the event and they want AMA

2. The state of California want AMA b/c the Japanese distributors are in California

3. The 250/125 teams can't afford to do more flyaways

4. AMA charge much less

5. Laguna is too dangerous for 250 and 125 GP kids who have no track experience

Maybe it's all of those reasons, maybe it's none of those reasons.

That was a fun weekend for me! I had trouble with my clutch all weekend, and with about 5 laps left in the race I could not grab downshifts and ran off a few times, I thought I was gonna go down in the deep gravel but luckily saved it, and limped home with my fried clutch. I improved all weekend so I would call it successful for what I had to work with. Also I can't find a single pic of me! I have looked everywhere!

5. Laguna is too dangerous for 250 and 125 GP kids who have no track experience

Maybe it's all of those reasons, maybe it's none of those reasons.

also maybe the 125/250 and now Moto2 sponsors are not targeted towards the US market so they only go to one round. It suck for the kids coming up in the classes because they are missing out on Laguna track experience if they do move up to MotoGP.

Are you f..ing kidding me? Dude you didnt tell me you were at Laguna! we had the whole gang there (read this) LINK. We would have hooked you up with professional grade pics from GatorDuc. Dude, did you lose my cellphone number?

Anyway, maybe next time. Lenny was there, but he had a catastrophic mechanical after the sighting lap. ...... for him.

Hopper was driving around the paddock meeting with fans and seen talking to Jake Holden hanging on the hot pit. He's a very accessible guy, I don't think I saw him once turn down a fan photo or autograph. I asked him to stop to take the pick of the front of his cart as I have a friend back home who loves this logo. He said no problem and stopped. You can see member Arrabiata in the background on the right walking with his camera.
