Did anyone else watch? Good question L8. I dont think anybody did. Races were on yesterday on CBS Sports Network. Nobody has that ch. the irony being that this channel has provided the best coverage i have ever seen given to AMA. They have great pre-event build up, pit interviews, flashbacks, pit interviews of crew-chiefs during the race, split screen, and the racing itself has been good. BUT ...the schedule has been awful and nobody is watching.
The top guys in DSB could make waves in Moto2, if only they were Spanish eh? Josh Hayes is the most underrated rider not to be racing internationally.

I'm trying to watch, but I don't think I have CBS Sports. I'm watching the AMA Pro DVR, which is nice, but very delayed. The CBS coverage seems to be a major improvement over Speed, but the field is still somewhat depleted for budgetary reasons, and many solid riders are sidelined. Two doubles in a row for Hayes doesn't really bode well for the remainder of the season.
DSB no longer interests me. Good concept grafted onto the wrong class, and its costing AMA Pro dearly. The top 4 are incredibly talented riders, especially Beaubier and Gagne, but the races don't really mean anything b/c they are the best of the non-SBK talent. SBK doesn't exactly have factory investment so no telling what will become of their talents.
At this point, I almost prefer the original plan which would have retained FX (or similar), and used the DSB concept in Literbike for affordable privateer racing. FX would have been stacked with talent, and these young kids would have been competing to beat 600cc legends like Hayes, Zemke, both Haydens, BBoz, etc. The US would have been producing incredible talent. Perhaps the AMA would have gone off the SBK radar, but Moto2 and MotoGP would have been knocking.

Yea, not many folks have CBS Sports, I only have it because it came with my Time Warner sports package which I purchased to view Bein and WSBK.
Very true that there are several DSB riders that would be competitive in Moto2, those guys toward the front can get with it. Good to see Benny in the top 10 both days, I'm guessing he's a little down on power to the front runners?
Josh Hayes certainly could make noise in WSBK, it's too bad he never got offered anything decent in that series.

DMG is not at anything. The AMA and the manufacturers were corrupt and always up to something. DMG is just incompetent, and they are beaten relentlessly by the media companies and sponsors with whom they claim to be partnered.
DMG excluded the major AMA Pro events from the CBS Sports package b/c DMG hoped to sell them for extra cash. Selling one off events to network TV or separate cable channels often requires advertising promises from major sponsors. The manufacturers once filled this role, but now DMG depend on companies like GEICO, National Guard, Go Pro, etc. to make up the difference. GEICO is by far the most powerful sponsor in the paddock, but look at the choke job in DSB by Westby and Team Hammer.
I bet GEICO, who are accustomed to championship-winning seasons with riders like Eslick and Cardenas, are pressuring DMG to change the balance of performance to improve Westby's CBR. No dice. GEICO pulled the plug on any possible TV deals, and now RRW (Team Hammer) are talking trash about DMG.
Anything less would be a surprising display of competence from the people in the paddock.

Do you guys think there is a rider or riders in one of these classes that could make the jump to motogp in the near future? Cameron Beaubier has been dominating in sportbike. Wonder if he will go up to superbike next year or get with a manufacturer in motogp. What do you guys think?

Hayes. No doubt Hayes is a special rider, unfortunately for him he just missed his window because of his age.
Herrin. I believe this young man has made some adjustments from the influence of Hayes. He's also taken to training a little harder(also due to Hayes) and it shows. I may be off on my assessment, but his style looks very similar to another rider everyone swoons over in MotoGP. I think he's ready for Moto2.

I watched the live timing b/c I don't have CBS Sports. Red flag saved Herrin in the first race.
Lewis raced Beaubier tough in DSB, but NJMP is a physical track and Lewis' size could have given him an edge. Beaubier prevailed in the end.

Herrin and Hayes actually recovered a lot from the red flag. Speaking of Herrin, I can't decide if I like this kid or not. It's been interesting watching him this year, he seems to have matured and gets along with the R1, and at timess he's fun to watch. It's obvious the R1 is the best bike in AMA SBK, I'm curious if Herrin could duplicate his results this year on Cardenas's Suzuki? I also wonder how Herrin would do in either WSBK or Moto2?
Beaubier....seriously needs to get across the pond somehow next year on a Moto2 bike, that kid is definitely on it right now. It's sad to think though if he did get a ride in Moto2 next year the bike would most likely be crap and he would be paying for it out of his own pocket.

The top DSB riders are being overlooked by the world. L8, if Herrin were on Cardenas bike, I doubt he would have made a podium much less win a race. Make no mistake, that M1 is a Wsbk spec bike, the Suzukis are no match.

That "jump start" penalty has been a bit of a tool to used by AMA officials to influence the outcome of the title, and frankly, in this case quite literally handed Herrin the title. The movement a bike experiences when placed into first gear (no not actually touching the white grid line or achieving a performance advantage) have been cause for penalty. And again, not consistently applied. If you watch the video of race 1, you will see RLee also have identical movement (which actually is normal). And even then, at the beginning of the year as long as the rider allowed riders to move ahead, the "jump start" penalty was accepted to be carried out, well Hayes moved back to literally to the back of the field at the start, how this could not be deemed the nullification of a supposed jump start (if one actually existed in this case) is mind-boggling. This idea that the bike can absolutely not move has been a recent return to the first year of DMG, where penalties were issued after reviewing pixels of the video. This year's title is a shame.

The AMA-spec R1 can't be similar to WSBK specification. Most of the WSBK parts, from prototype engine internals to prototype swingarm and forks to custom transmissions, are banned in AMA competition. The AMA rules, which are similar to Supersport, favor the Yamaha over the Suzuki. Since Kawasaki, Honda, BMW, and Aprilia do not participate, we can't really know whether or not the current rules are workable.
Personally, I think the crossplane crank gives a big advantage over a 180-degree crank. Some of the manufacturers have figured out how to neutralize the Yamaha's advantage with advanced fuel-mapping and traction control, but Suzuki have not. In both the AMA and BSB, Suzuki have fallen off the pace with the new rules.

Haha, nothing gets by you guys. Uhm, no .... sherlocks, hence why I called it an M1 and liken it to a Wsbk spec. Are you serious? Jesus. A bit of hyperbole (which Pov I'm not surprised is beyond your level and capacity for deliberation) to convey the superiority of Herrin's bike vs Cardenas/RL's bike. I could have also said Herrin's bike is a "rocket ship" compared to the Suzuki, and you would have pointed out no, it can't actually fly. haha. .... me.
