A few noobish questions...

I'm new to bike racing (only followed for about a year) so don't know a lot about it. I know the basics but not every detail.

The first question I have is this: what is the capacity of World Superbikes in cc?

Second: Can World Superbikes run in Britain and British Superbikes in WSBK or do they run to different regs?

Third: Does a WSBK or a MotoGP bike have more straightline speed?

Fourth: Does a WSBK or a 125cc GP bike have more straightline speed?

Thanks everyone who will (hopefully) answer

1st answer: that will be 1000cc. there is a big fush going on now about the ducati's who want to increase it too 1200cc, and all the japanese factories are trying to prefend that from happening. you can read about it in the general motogp section of the forum!

2nd answer: I don't understand the question!! you mean if wsbk can race in britain?? they do! BSB and the WSBK are 2 complete different leagues.

3rd answer: a motogp bike is faster. they can get more power from the 800cc. have you seen the ducati's on a straightline??? they are incredibly fast!

4th answer: it's the WSBK that has more straightline speed. like I said, the wsbk's have more cc (1000), and obviously the 125cc has less

hope everything I said is correct??? my dad isn't home, so I can't ask him

I mean, can you take a British Superbike (say a HM Plant Honda) into the World Superbike Championship and race it? Or do you have to modify it?

Thanks for the other answers

You would have to modify it in general, things like tyres (one make rule in WSBK),engine specs and frame/forks plus many other things such as electronic aids.I`m sure it`s more than that if anyone would like to enlighten us.

well in the superbikes as far as i know there are wildcard entries plus privateer's. so i think effectively you could race in both series but if you were a privateer you'd need to be a hell of a rich one to enter both BSB and WSB.

i know in BSB they have a championship for privateers but i dunno bout WSB. and i think that the manufactorers would have something to say bout their riders and which series they'd be in. its like the Johnathan Rea situation, he was gonna race at donny but honda have promised him a motoGP ride before the end of the season instead.

Maximum displacement in WSBK is 1000cc this year for every kind of engine. Next year V-twins like Ducati will be allowed up to 1200cc while 4 cylinder engines will remain at 1000cc (V twins will lose their other technical advantages).

WSBK and BSB are similar both are bikes based on street bikes, the difference is how many stock parts are you allowed to change for racing parts.

So you wont be able to run a WSBK bike in the BSB or probably any other national SBK championship because they have racing parts that are banned in those championships (to keep costs low)

But you could probably run a BSB bike in the WSBK championship (as long as you fit Pirelli tyres).

----------------------------------------------

A WSBK is a hell of a lot faster than a 125cc in terms of top speed. 125cc top speed is about 240km/h (and that was probably slipstreaming) and WSBKs go over 300km/h, very close to MotoGP top speed.
