A few facts about Ducati, Bridgestone in 07

yeah so when tiger woods is winning by 10 strokes he puts in a few double and triple bogies

LOL

you go out there and annihilate the opposition so that you fk there confidence for the rest of the season. thats what stoner did. rossi couldnt handle it, thats why rossi crashed so many times this year

when you are on a slower bike you are pushing harder and mistakes happen, its getting rather boring talking about this now.
You keep bringing up the same old .... that suits what your saying totally ignoring 2006 when Stoner crashed more times than Rossi.

Rossi crashed once this year. :S

coz he was under immense pressure to not lose any more points to stoner. yet he wasnt even battling directly with stoner in the race.

thats pressure of the whole season on him caused by stoners blistering pace.

so u say rossi was sandbaggin when he won the 5wc's coz he wasnt challenged?

if he wanted to challenge himself and set fastest lap times lap after lap and win by 30 seconds he may of improved alot more and may of been faster than he is today and may of been able to win in 06 an 07 when the pressure was on.

You crack me up.

Challenging yourself is being world champion with different manufacturers surely?

Crawl back under the rock you been sleeping under until 2007 pinky

he couldnt challenge himself in 08 by staying on the Michelins? but couldnt hack it could he.

If Rossi wins on Bridgestone its just another milestone in his cap.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (phleg @ Jan 2 2008, 10:54 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>There was close racing when Rossi won his championships.

He didn't have a chip on his shoulder about finishing 10+ seconds ahead of his nearest rival, he'd wait and make the show good for the crowd.

He'd usually always win, but actually make the race worth watching along the way.

If this is true then Vale should have his arse handed to him on a platter. In racing you're there to win!

It was probably this type of mucking around that allowed Sete to pinch a few race wins off him a few years ago?

Don't think that the factory bosses are too worried about tv ratings, provided that the punters keep buying motorcyles anyway...

Thanks... In one simple line you have completely supported the statements that Stoners fans have been making about his crash filled 2006!

Erm, yes, we all know the V5 Honda's were dogs. He had inferior tyres....

Oh, some guy called Rossi's name now appears in the equation now.

Ah yes, but Mr Rossi himself proved that just having a Honda V5 between your legs did not alone guarantee a win!

Oh, & Stoners first year on said machine & tyres of course. Silly twit was just trying that little bit too hard, but I guess that the old saying is true... it's easier to teach a fast rider not to crash then it is to make a slower rider go faster!

And that doesn't challenge my contention that if Vale has "sandbagged" in races in the past, then he's doing his employers a dis-service, which was really the point of my reply to your post?

Rossi may have looked like he was sandbagging on the yamaha because his bike didn't have the legs to make a run on Setes Honda or more than one Honda.

Most importantly, I never said Vale was a sandbagger!

Some others have suggested that he "slowed down" in order to make the races more interesting & I responded by saying if that is so, then he should have a rocket given to him by his employers! He's there to win & make their products look good on Sunday, so that they sell on Monday. And I'm sure that he's still quite fond of winning given his recent quote about "not winnning GP's being like going without ... for a while"!

I for one believe that every time Rossi hits the track, he's there to beat the opposition in whatever way he can. I believe exactly the same about Stoner... the way they go about that same mission is just a bit different...

I think part of it was that valentino previously, with the different technology and tyres at the time, liked to warm up his tyres before going too hard, and also liked to preserve his tyres early in races. He knew what he was doing and usually judged things well, almost invariably having the most life in his tyres at the end of races. Due to improved tyre technology, tc, greater competition or whatever this was no longer an option in 2007 at least.

The famous jack brabham quote about motor racing being the art of winning at the slowest possible speed did not seem to apply to the 2007 motogp season.
