Ducati's take first 7 places in the sprint. So much for being Japan's home GP [insert embarrassed Japanese executive emoji]

Miller first non-Ducati, perhaps he will be helpful with bringing Yamaha back to the podium in 2025

Gardner finishes in front of Acosta LOL: [we shouldn't take too much into Gardners result, he's there for development as too is Salvadori]

In regards to the KTM's I've seen comments about chatter, is this affecting some KTM riders but not all or are we seeing Acosta and Binder riding around the chatter?

Surely these things Acosta is “learning” are things he should’ve learned by now, as it applies in all classes? He’s clearly come to grips with the machinery, but you need to be smart as well.

Binder just can’t catch a fookin break
In the end it worked for Casey Stoner.

Gutted for Acosta's off. What an entertaining rider! He knows what he did wrong and will learn from it.
Great tussle between Marc and Enea too.
I think that for Jorge, tomorrow will be like today.... damage control. Just stay on the bike to the end!!

Yes I think he needs to learn he can’t just ride away from everyone based on riding talent, particularly on a KTM riding against riders equipped with GP24s who were also prominent in the junior classes themselves.

It isn’t even like MM’s rookie year in 2013, tremendous though MM’s achievement was he did land on one of the only 4 bikes on the grid which could win a race back then.. Winning a race on a KTM this year would be remarkable, and I won’t even qualify that by saying winning a dry race,,he won’t beat both MM and Binder in the wet. He probably had the winning of this race sans the impetuosity though.
Surely he could have been riding'only' 0.2s per lap faster than Bagnaia with less risk of a fall. We've seen so many sprint races won with a 0.6s gap that's maintained. That seems the way to do it.

There are posts above that might be implying that Acosta was trying to build a legend with a dominant win. If so: I agree.

At least he's returned from his doldrums mid-year.

It looks to me that he simply didn't have the speed. Maybe he was lucky to finish as high as he did.

You mean the artist formerly known as Crashey in his own rookie year in the premier class ?. Absolutely. Very different in his second year on a bike with non remainder bin tyres. I won’t say tyres no longer come into it, because the control tyre does not necessarily meld equally well with all riding styles and bikes, but experience and better equipment could see Acosta much more competitive, he fairly definitely has the talent.

Was impressed with the beasts tenacity there in fending MM off. That’s the second time he’s bared his teeth recently, on this occasion he aided Pecco more than himself. If the contracts weren’t already signed I’d be reaching for my tin foil hat.

I am convinced Mir crashes on the first lap so he doesn't have to ride an entire race. Get to the grid, put it in the gravel sit, and watch the race while collecting a paycheck.
Plausible ... It's remarkable how often he crashes and how quickly. Polar opposite to his time at Suzuki. I can't see him recovering from the mental thrashing he must be experiencing or his crashes may well be a sign of this.

I hope this isn't the sad end to the career of a champion.

Bestia wasn't letting Marc stay in front. It was a nice pass back and he showed speed to stay away.

The front is very easy to lose with these crap Michelins and the aero. Disappointed to see Pedro dump it. He had speed but clearly pushing very hard.
This is so typical of hot-.... rookies, but usually they grow out of this phase by mid-season. One gets the feeling that Pedro, whilst talented, has on balance, more ego than smarts.

I'm not even surprised anymore. What a bad luck infested are these last few years for Marquez. Pole?

Stewards: nope

Title is gone this year, so why bother expressing anger. Just enjoy the overtakes till he lands on gp25, as he probably won't have many to overtake next year.

Wondering if there is some extra financial incentive for him to do so - considering he’s out of the team at season’s end.
I'm quite confident about that. Thanks to MM, it was obvious to understand Enea wasn't pushing to overtake Princess.
In any case, relationship between them (23 and 63) always had been good so no reason for animosity. I just think that :
- Before Mandalika race, Enea was just told to not try something stupid on Francesco
- After that, he will do anything to avoid Martin get his title. You will told me it was the case since the begining, yes. But from now this lead to help his teammate to achieve that.

The comedy you all assisted in 2022 will play its second part, you had a foretaste last week in Mandalika...

At the business end of the season, the cream floats to the top.

Even if it is unlikely, we still have four riders with a shot of the top spot. 77 points off for Marc, he'll need to DNFs from Martin to be within touching distance, if they can win. Enea 72 points of, would need the same.

Not likely, yet still possible, given how this season seems to be unfolding.

Good to see how Acosta has bounced back of late. May the Finn give him clear guidance for the seasons to come! Would be awesome to see the lad winning a title while Marc is on a factory bike. Proper picking up the baton.

Ducati already trying to make Pecco's life easier by downgrading the GP23:

Marc
“We had some changes that affects my riding style a lot,” Marquez admitted. “But from that point we try to adapt. There’s no meaning to keep thinking about the changes. You just need to adapt to what you have.”
Bezz
“Let’s say that this [component] was the only thing that was improving the problem that we were having a bit,” he admitted. “Now the feeling is again a little bit worse.”
DiGi
“I’m a little disappointed,” Di Giannantonio said after Friday’s practice at Motegi, “that from this race on we cannot use a piece that was helping us to fight with the GP24 bikes. So now I see the gap with the '24 bikes a bit bigger."

Daniel Holgado is going to have a big task ahead of him to stop David Alonso willing the Moto3 championship tomorrow. Alonso only needs 3 points over Holgado, and Holgado looks way off the pace.
