Unfortunate that Marquez is said not to be able to participate here. One of the few places where he might have had a reasonable chance to be on the podium.
He claims not to be obsessed with a 10th championship, but his fans sure as hell are. There is this illusion that Marquez taking a 10th would take the wind out
of rabid Rossifumi, but, I don't think that would happen. By and large, people engaged in a cult of personality, tend never to move on. Look on the crowds
at any MGP - and there's still stands filled with people whose wardrobes consist mainly of overpriced #46 stuff from the merch stands.

In other news, is $1900/ticket worth it for the VIP pass? I'm considering going one year but would rather get a more immersive experience.

Marquez out
Bestia out
Oliveria - TBC
Mir - TBC
Pol - Out indefinitely.

So this weekend people are paying a lot of money to watch a lot of test riders (Bradl, Pirro, Folger etc)

Damn, I was hoping Bestia would be there at least.

I've been to other races but only got the VIPs once. I got them a few years back at Assen. On the whole I think it was worth it, tho I wouldn't do it again
at that particular track. I was told by others that the benefits of the VIP are very restricted at Assen as compared to other tracks. At Assen access to the
paddock was limited to something like half an hour a day. The walk-thru on pit lane was pretty brief and only when all the riders were in their trailers.
At Laguna, even with regular day passes there were opportunities to actually meet some of the riders.

For that price, I better get to spin around the track for a few laps...Honda has a few open bikes I hear.

That's the issue for me. Without sounding aloof, I've grown up in racing paddocks. I've been to 2 GP races and 1 Friday practice. Apart from the latter, I really didn;t enjoy being outside the fence and being treated like cattle so if I went, I'd want more access but not sure I'm wanting it THAT much.

A somewhat better mix of bikes in the FP2 top ten, I hope Rins is for real and does well on the Honda.

I've put up a prediction on another forum prior to practice, I've put my neck out and chosen Vinales. I also predicted M Marquez to be on the podium and he as subsequently pulled out

I'll pick Pirro to be the first test rider :)

The comments in The-Race dot com are so ....... toxic. Rins does well and you see people calling Marc a one trick pony and overrated. Yeah, it only took several years to see a single Honda that isn't him do well in a practice session in a favorable circuit.

This place is the only oasis for Grand Prix motorcycling discourse.

Is it too early to say Alex Márquez is the most consistent rider this season so far?

Impressive lap by Bagnaia to take pole and new track record, Rins looking fantastic second on the grid, I hope they both finish on the podium this weekend.

People gonna talk, sort the wheat from the chaff and ignore the rest.
