Watching the first few practice sessions, and I've decided that Austria is possibly my least favourite tracks. It looks narrow, a lot of the corners appear awkward, and it doesn't seem to give many decent opportunities to pass.

But I may be totally wrong, I have been trying to do some work at the same time, so wasn't watching that closely.

Is it just me or are we seeing more than one update to aero packages this season? Rules previous were one update per year, normally the low downforce spec debuting at Mugello. Seems every round there is talk of changes and updates to most bikes.

Pecco grabs the pole with Maverick trailing behind. I wouldn't be surprised if Mav wins the sprint while Pecco gets the sunday win. Seems like the new aero updates favoured Yamaha more than Honda, the latter looks unrideable and is slow to boot. Mir getting one up over Marc, but a 18th place is no consolation.

I have made some bold predictions in my day. Like Casey Stoner will puke in his helmet after eating to many cadbury eggs. Jorge Lorenzo will nearly drown in a pond after victory in spain. Valentino Rossi will capitalize of the death of Nicky Hayden by creating a 469 helmet. But I am ready to make my boldest prediction yet. Marc Marqez will finish the grand prix this weekend. Dubsterdomus out.

Yeah, I watched this demolition derby from the start. It’s the second sprint I’ve watched this year and may be the last.

It’s not racing, it’s a lottery.

Bradl just pretty much called the stewards morons. I'll miss Servus TV MotoGP coverage so much.

Another disasterclass by the stewards. Martín must have some blackmail info on them, he always seems to escape punishment. All the crashing made the race unexciting.

Also so much for my prediction of Maverick winning this race, I forgot how awful his starts are, but he had incredible pace in this sprint.

All right now, the “race” is over, now it’s time to bring in the lawyers who will determine the final finishing positions.

What a joke.

What I noticed about Mav is, the worse his start the better his pace. Had he holeshotted he would have dropped like his name was Miller.

I thought the whole idea of a race is to go forward not backwards [ miller] . Also a big well done to Martin for taking out 7 riders for no penalty.

Watch Mav from the start, he caused all the havoc. He went from 2nd on the grid to 7th by the 1st corner, still not up to speed before sweeping across just as Martin squeezed under Fabio. Fab tried to adjust but there was no where to go as Mav was just pedaling across him.

The thing is, in my opinion, that motorcycle racing has now become so “safe”, with all the runoff, air fence, safety equipment for the riders, better helmets, etc.

A “natural” result of this is more aggression and contact.

I don’t think in previous eras, such as the late 80’s for example, that the concept of “leaning” on a fellow competitor was a “thing.” Generally, passing was clean, it had to be. The danger was salient.

Today?

Mav was on a different trajectory at a slower speed than every other rider at the time. This one is all on Maverick for my opinion.

But at 7pm local time the Stewards issued a long lap penalty for Martin, to be served in Sunday’s grand prix, for ‘riding in an irresponsible manner causing a crash’.
Ridiculous slap in the hand. He should start from the pit lane. I still don't get the inconsistent penalties, Marc taking down Oliveira is a double long lap penalty but Martin ruining the races of 7 riders is a simple long lap. Like they say, it's better owe millions to the tax agency than owe hundreds.
