2017 Supercross season thread

Marvin let him by, he took a line around that corner that he had not taken all day... Dungey has a lot of friends on the track (chad not being one), and I would not be surprised if someone offers him another favor, should he need it in the final.
Perhaps, but Marvin looks to be pushing going into the turn. Seemed like a mistake to me. It would seem conventional to pass Ryan then concede whilst pushing, given Dungey was pressuring him. I know these guys got pride, so if he were trying to make a point by leading, seems more logical he'd wait to the last turn to pull over ala Tom Sykes. This was for a win, I don't think anyone would have blamed him for taking it, but it looked from my perspective that he went in too hot, take a look at his landing from the second jump, trying to keep Dungey at bay sensing perhaps Ryan was about to make a move going into that turn. As I said, moot point, .... knows. Everyone will look at it as team orders. I'm not so sure.

I notice you feel a need to debate this. Fine.

Firstly, this is an open and shut case. He's a lapper, get out of the ....... way. Barry my fellow Australian is wrong, no Motorsport anywhere, even the local speedway tolerates lappers having a sudden desire to race leaders and get in the way. He copped a penalty and that's a good thing, the fine is joke should be more.

Next an Aussie racer is a .... talking whinger?
...

The main part of this issue, the comparison of Reed to Capirossi or Rossi. There's a quite large problem with your arguement. Reed hasn't actually taken a competitor out. Capirossi and Rossi have. So I wave a gun, though we don't have gun rights here so I wave my that's not a knife this is a knife in your face. And then I do jack ..... Are you trying to tell me that is the same as taking out my knife and stabbing you in the guts?

What Reed has done is not even close. He tried to intimidate Stewart in a last gasp showdown for a championship. He waved the gun but didn't pull the trigger. He ran across the track on the gas? Get out of here. We both know to take out a rival in SX the teebone is by far the most adopted dirty move. Running across the track on the gas. My friend, I ask you to take a look a Lorenzo ride Valencia 2013. Marquez has the championship in the bag. Loreanzo's only hope is for Marquez to crash out. Lorenzo never touches him, but he does ride as aggressive as I've seen him in MotoGP and he does try to intimidate him and ultimately he fails but still you even gave him praise for a masterful ride.

Reed has tried to intimidate opponents most obviously Stewart. You think Stewart never tried to intimidate Reed. Ditto Carmicheal. One of the most aggressive riders. If you say no never then sorry friend discussion over.

Reed is not an out an out dirty rider. Pretty much up he gives what he gets. In this case he was dead wrong and should pull his ....... head in he's old but he's not Rossi.

That looked like the kind of thing that would earn a black flag--the deliberate action of running a rival off track (not in GP, that would never happen...). I disagree brother, it wasn't just waving a gun, more like cocking the gun, pointing it, with finger on the trigger, your argument is, he wasn't going to fire it though, except he did! It almost worked, Stewart did well to hang on, both feet off the pegs.

James pulls over, off the fast racing line, wanting to let Reed go, why do you suppose Chad refused to take the fast line and the position? James behaved like a lapper, can you imagine Reed coming up to a lapper, the lapper concedes the fast line, and the faster rider not taking the position? Unheard of, right? Yet, that's exactly what Reed did here. Stewart was racing for the championship, knowing he only needed to collect points, stay out of trouble, it was clear Chad's strategy was to take James out! Chad didn't fool anybody, certainly not you, nor the commentators who took the time to point out in a replay with magic screen marker (Min 7:43 see screenshot below) as if we weren't all aware of what was plainly unfolding, pointing out how James made obvious overtures to let Reed by, Reed had another plan.

Not quite spooky "intimidation" (as you put it old friend) more like actual execution, look again, Reed was trying to take Stewart out, evasive action was required. Not sure why you brought up Aussie's personality thing in your take, you should know by now I'm an Aussie lover, but since you brought it up my dear Aussie friend, I'd wonder what Stoner's opinion might be regarding such a deliberate move by Reed given my memory of LS08. James knew it was coming too buddy, knowing what loathsome tactics Reed is capable of doing, hence looking back repeatedly waiting for the chickenshit sucker punch. Capirossiesk on Harada, knowing the points situation, and this being the final, Reed was fully aware what a Stewart DNF meant for the championship, as much as Capirossi. Only one way to describe Reed's move, shamefully Rossiesk.

Watching the Jersey SX was hard. Reminded me of Bradshaw's melt down in 92.
Did Musquin let his team mate by? Who knows? I just thought it was strange he got a signal from track side that he took a long hard look at with just a few laps remaining. I didn't see it happen but the commentators mentioned it.
I honestly don't think it matters with one race left, Dungey is a model of consistency, he would only need to finish one spot behind Tomac to win the championship.

What's up L8? How you been?

The camera went to a split screen showing legend Roger Deoster, but I didn’t see any signals, I did however hear lots of conjecture by the commentators. Moot point I suppose.

As a Buddy Antunez fan myself, even if team orders were not explicitly signaled, Moosecan did well for his career to either "make a mistake" or "pull over". (I mention Antunez because his SX career was killed by team politics because he refused to take a dive).

The reporter needing a soundbite the very moment Tomac finished the race should be ashamed.

I don’t think it's over, it can all go pear shaped at the start. Plus, the Reed factor. Unlikely that Dungey is outside top 5. But who predicted Tomac off the podium last race?

Sam Boyd stadium's days may be numbered. The plot of land near Mandalay casino where the future Raiders stadium is to be built has been delineated. To be completed by 2020. I'm sure the SX will move there shortly.

RJ I've been good. Don't lurk around here as much as I'd like but hoping to get back more often.
Your right, Moosecan did the right thing, if rumors are true he will be KTM's number one US rider next year if Dungey retires.
I'm not a nuthugging Dungey fan but I do respect his accomplishments, many fans out there are quick to discredit him saying he won because of injury etc. There is no luck in winning championships, you have to be on the podium or near it every race at the professional level. I think Dungey takes 2nd behind Tomac in Vegas, another championship to Dungey.
Tomac is young and stupid fast, a championship is in his future if he stays healthy. I only wish Roczen hadn't got hurt, I would have loved to have seen him and Tomac battle these last couple of weeks.

Lost respect for Tomac. Very disappointed in his comments. What a ..... thing to say. He only has himself to blame. He basically is saying the championship is tainted if he doesn't win. Rossi 2.0 Eli has no business questioning Moosecan's integrity, and by extension questioning Dungey's integrity for "sleeping at night" as the recipient of some dubious championship fixing by team orders. Even if Moosecan pulled over, what did Eli want Dungey to do? Pull over to the side when he was full throttle on Moosecan's ...? Moosecan said he made a mistake and lost the position. If Eli doesn't believe him is fine, but stating it publicly as fact is Roosiesk. Eli had the championship lead going into the penultimate race, he ...... that up on his own. What Reed did was far more egregious, I don't recall Eli badmouthing the help. "If it comes to 3 points", well Eli, will you be able to sleep well at night knowing Reed potentially gifted him 3 points? Tomac melted down last week, but no shame in that, this on the other hand is chickenshit. Take responsibility for your own actions dude. Eli had this in the bag, points lead with two races to go. My apologies to his fans, but he deserves to lose.

Dungey was asked leading questions about Reed's ...... action whist in the heat of the moment, and he took the high road when he had far more standing to ..... about Chump Reed. Tomac had a week to get over his own ...... performance, he should have known they'd ask leading questions; and proceeded to make himself look stupid.

Given Tomac's comments, now I'm worried he may go full Reed.

I was actually shocked watching that, my memory of it was nowhere near that bad. I guess that's just how I wanted to remember it. I suppose that's how the boppers do it too, selective memory rationalisation of the inexcusable. It's not even debatable mate I don't know why I brought it up, he did take the shot only bubba thankfully dodged the bullet.

I don't know what the Aussie thing was either. Probably posting under the influence, att I was reminiscing when I first saw a 500cc race it was 1987 Wayne Gardner and despite him being something of a ......, according to Burgess it was Wayne's way of compensating for the so called small fish in a big pond insecurity he felt. I guess I was thinking of the parallels regarding Chad heading off to USA, still it's no excuse for the way he rode in that race, Wayne never rode like that.

No worries brother. After tonight though, Reed is nowhere near the dirtiest rider, Tomac and Osborne made Reed seem like Mother Teresa.

Watch the two final races if you can find them. There is a move in the 250s main by Osborne that will make you nauseous. See below. He took out Savatgy, the guy that would have won the title on the last turn. I honestly can't believe Osborne wasn't disqualified, but rather rewarded by "winning" the title. I was shocked. I was watching with the wifey, who used to go with me to SX races back in the day, and stopped going after Ernesto Fonseca was paralyzed. She was a big fan. And we both stood there in silence for a moment. Then she said, surely that guy is disqualified right? Nop, he was greeted like a hero. Interviewed on the podium without the slightest acknowledgment of what had just happened. She said, I don’t remember SX being this careless. They have no regard for what serious injury can result. I was also texting with a buddy, and he had basically the same take, it was totally outrageous. At the end of the coverage they asked Jeff Emig and Ricky Carmichael their opinion, both said they were absolutely fine with it. Move along, nothing to see here. I'm still shaking my head.

Watch the 450 main. Tomac was obviously slowing down the pace because he needed Dungey to finish 5 or worse. Dungey passed him and Tomac tried to take him out. It was dirty as hell, and deliberate. It appears there is nothing prohibited in SX. I'm disappointed actually, this isn't racing.

Congrats to Ryan Dungey. 4 time SX champion!

Osborne's torpedo. He take out Savatgy who was about to win the title. How is this legal racing? It's .........

It wasn't enough for Osborne to just pass Savatgy, because that still would have left him a point down. He had to crash Savatgy out. Notice how they cheer him on. He starts to cry like he won something fairly. Look at the podium reporter, smiling from ear to ear like Osborne just accomplished something great. It's unbelievable. SX has become .........

Congrats to Ryan Dungey.

Tomac's gender transformation is complete, what a .....! He tried to take out Dungey 3 times, deliberate moves to crash out his rival. This isn't racing. Tomac left Vegas without the title, without the win, and without dignity. ....... dirty chickenshit loser.

Dungey is gonna sleep perfectly well tonight. Tomac will sit up countless nights replaying how he choked, whined like a ....., and lost respect. He could have taken the race win and held his head high. No shame in losing honestly. After tonight's performance he should bury his face in shame.

I liked the move by Osborne, it was the typical supercross block pass, Savatgy took the wrong line on that corner

Enjoyed watching both classes in Vegas.
Osborne's pass was epic, he got fined for it, but I'm sure he was more than happy to pay up.
Congrats to Dungey, 4 time SX champ!

This is what Savatgy's mechanic should have done to Osborne.
