2011 Lucas Oil Motocross Chapionship

Yep Reedy got smashed - lets see what next race brings.

Trophy de Nations coming up Sept 17/18 - Aussie team is Reed,Metcalf,Moss.

I'll cut Reed some slack...it's tough to come back from a crash like that.

USA des Nations team : Villopoto, Dungey, and Baggett

So, I'm really surprised that you Aussie's haven't commented on Southwick. Metcalfe taking a well deserved win...good on him.

Villopoto rides the smart race and keeps the points lead.

Dungey..wow, what a great recovery, he was ready to race but his Zooki was not. Counts his blessons to have finished 3rd overall and minimize the damage. The rumors of him leaving Suzuki at the end of the year seem to be gaining steam now.....a KTM in his future under the direction of Roger DeCoster? I can forsee that happening. When Suzuki didn't renew DeCosters contract, Dungey was not happy, and since DeCoster has left, mechanical DNF's have already cost Dungey the SX title, it's possible it will cost him the Outdoor title. KTM wants an AMA 450 title real bad, Dungey could do it for them.

Yes true L8Braker - been very busy weekend and only got up to watch the GP.

Kudos and deserved to Metcalfe - been a long time coming especially being in the background of Reeds achievements the last years, he has kept at it and I'm sure this will gain him some additional confidence especially the de nations coming up.

Reedy is gone I'm afraid unless the impossible happens Villo dnf ing a race and or finishing low that I highly doubt and Dungey the way he's riding will keep gaining points.

I was surprised to hear long before Zook didn't agree to De Costers requests bad ploy by them - sometimes you need to keep paying the $$$ one like DeCoster asks for its very hard to replace a Legend and look what has transpired.

Be good to see KTM up there nothing like having another brand compete against the jap bikes.

Great for Metty. He is the AMA MX equivalent to Dovi. Always there or there abouts but never able to take the lead.

Shame for Reed. He has had a great year.

RV should have capitalised a bit more I think. He took it a bit easy.

Dungy, well what can you say? Class ride once he actually got a bike.

That track was mental. When do you see this calibre of ride with their legs of paddling it through. Thats what I look like when I ride!!!!

Well done Dean Wilson ! Great season.

No Des Nations ride for Dean this year though. British team is apparently Tommy Searle, Brad Anderson and Carl Nunn.

Well Pete...your boy Wilson took it in style at Pala...2011 250cc champ.

Watching the 450cc live...Villopoto wins the first moto and has a 14 pt cushion going into Moto 2...time to get it on!

RV does what he has to and becomes 2011 450cc Champ! Bring on the Des Nations.

Cant believe I doubted my boy Villopoto in the beginning of the season. Once again he finishes the year out strong and takes the title.

Dungey has got to be the classest act in all of MX. I used to talk a little junk about him but hes proven me to be the ...... (not hard to do). I just hope if he goes to KTM they can make that 350 competitive but i have my doubts( Dungey talk to Nicky Hayden about the merits of working for a small exotic motorcycle manufacturer)

WTF happened to Reed. He completely faded the last few races. He was looking so strong early on

Congrats to Villopoto. I couldnt be happier

JK, if Dungey does go to KTM I don't think he will be riding the 350, if I'm not mistaken none of the KTM guys have ridden it this year in the outdoor series. Not sure KTM will suffer like Ducati though, they do relatively well and have multiple World Champions at the international level, and given that DeCoster is there I expect that if Dungey does go there, we won't see any drop off in his performance.

As far as Reed, I think he looked better at Palo but got out of the way of the Ryans once caught so that he wouldn't factor into the championship. I'm not a big Reed fan, but he's a pretty tough hombre to come back from that major get off. He admitted that mentally that crash effected his confidence.

JK...I believe they actually ran the 350 to kick off the outdoor season last year and if I remember correctly Alessi actually got the holeshot and won the moto. The 350 makes sense in SX because it a little lighter and a little more tame for tight tracks. I don't think the 350 has worked out because they haven't had a talented enough rider on it, but that just my opinion.

You said it above - as for being a title contender, he sure was till that flying lesson he gave himself - water under the bridge, being a privateer first up done good as we say, outnumbered not liked much kudos to his drive and ambition.

Good luck to RV great year for he and well done also to Dungey !

Woohoo for Wilson - I admire young fellas doing it abroad for like Reed and others before its not easy doing it up against the might of the US mx riders and the heavy schedule.....
