It will probably be more exciting than MotoGP next year anyway so who do you think will come out on top?

I would like to think that Kallio will win but I'm not sure the KTM will be quite up to same level as the Aprillia and Bautista is looking like he will do a repeat of 06.

Dark horse : Mattia Pasini
Héctor Faubel,Lukáš Pešek also moving up
smart money is on Bautista

Well if you take out the top3 of this season (who have gone to MOtoGP) that's leaves Bautista in 4th as the one with most points. So I guess that makes him favourite.

5th is Barberá, who will have an official RSA in 2008.

Then comes the KTM guys Aoyama and Kallio. Kallio seemed particularly quick towards the end of the season.

Lüthi should be thereabouts too.

Don't know what will happen with the Honda bikes since they wont improve the bikes for next year since they are abandoning 2stroke racing engines (wusses ¬¬) So we'll see what Takahashi and Simon get. If they stay with Honda they're screwed.

The rookies could give a surprise, particularly Faubel and Passini.

And let's not forget Debón, he will also have an official Aprilia (Lorenzo's team)

Still my bet, Bautista.

Kallio did a 1.34,880 in testing today (quicker than Davies in Free practice on 800cc - tho obviously chaz fell off - but still, why oh why are they killing 250 the idiots!). Pole on saturday was 1.35,166. He said he's suprised at the power and how good the new bike is to ride.

I would like to see Bautista become champion, but then again I think that Kallio has a fair chance of taking the title as well

Don't tease me. If this is true i want to see a source. BIG news!!!!!

Also the Honda teams as far as i can gather are a one man scot team running Takahashi and Repsol fielding Aoyama and Wilairot.

It's gonna suck being a Honda rider until 2-strokes are abolished.. Really is a shame.. Altho, Dovi's bike should allow someone to be reasonably competetive..

and why isnt Mattia Pasini on that poll?

Agreed, but I don't know how to edit the poll. There are a few 125 riders who could do well but has a 125cc rider ever taken out the 250 championship in their 1st year? Maybe Biaggi?

I voted for Hiroshi Aoyama, because he's a favourite rider of mine in the class. I don't really think he'll take the championship, but he'll be at the sharp end at most races, providing the new KTM is quick out of the box. He's done a lot for KTM's 250cc project, so I hope that he doesn't get shunted into the no.2 rider role next season.

The man to beat if Bautista, of course--even if there were many times this season during his race wins and podiums when he looked like an accident waiting to happen.

it's got to be bautista! i think kallio will be a force also. i expect to see some fireworks from passini my fav rider in the 250s as well. it's gonna be a great 250 season! man march seems awful far away....

Not many people straying from Kallio and Bautista. Considering the disappointing surprise we got from Aoyama this year i think someone outside of the obvious could be a threat. Watch out for Julian Simon now hes got a KTM to ride.
