Video of the final race of 1983 500cc season championship decider between 2 great champions. This is a new video in my collection and was the first time I had seen this GP, hope some others here might want to watch this classic race  + interviews. I really want to see the race prior to this, but no video found of it as yet....

I always found this season (what I have seen) to be a great duel between the tough more grizzled champion and the upstart young sensation on a very handy Honda, similar to this year lol

I am not usually one to have strong emotional or visceral reactions to media people. Don't do the whole 'love them' 'hate them' thing. But in the case of Eastlake, I could be tempted


 


I hear they use him as a sparrow scarer out in country WA in the off season. Is h still scaring little kiddies at the NRL?

He's actually in pretty bad shape, I believe.  He's in his 70s now, and living in a nursing home-type of arrangement.  Not coming from a Rugby state, I'd never heard of him, really, until ch9 knicked the broadcast rights off of SBS;  I just remember thinking: well, he's not Will Hagon--but he gets just as excitable.  Sheene used to give him a hard time, too, especially in the early days.
