I thought, said and wrote that despite being a huge fan of Andrea Dovizioso, it would have been hard for him to fight for a championship again and that 2017 was a stellar season for a really good (but not title-good) rider. I also said that I would have been very happy to be wrong.
Being a .... Sapiens (and not a Neanderthal like a few in here) I am able to understand that the fact that he's my favorite rider doesn't mean that he's the best rider on the track, nor the best in history, nor the one that should have won but was unlucky on that day
That being said, I am happy to say I was wrong. I was in Misano on sunday and could witness the immensity of his speed, as well as the stabilty and insane acceleration of both the Ducatis and how Dovi was taking advantage of this, sending his bike out of the corners like a rocket. The bike is sure helping him but the way he rode (on a track that he never really liked) hammering down fast lap after fast lap was nothing like the Dovi I've seen before the end of 2016.
This title is safely in Marc's hands already but Dovi didn't have a lucky season, he really has done the step IMHO.
