Your Dream Formula 1 Team

A

Alex

I know I did one of these for Moto GP, but let's try one for F1!

Mine:

1st Driver: Fernando Alonso
2nd Driver: Michael Schumacher
Team: Renault
Tyre Supplier: Michelin

But my favourite would be:

1st Driver: Fernando Alonso
2nd Driver: Kimi Raikkonen
Team: Ferrari/McLaren
Tyre Supllier: Michelin

I think you'd have Alonso somewhere though.

erm.. no.. i wouldnt actually. he needs to win a lot more before you can term him a 'legend'. he's a good driver for sure but wouldnt be in anyone's dream team yet

Not that I know anything about F1, but I`d pick Alonso as 1st driver, So he can win the races, and Schuey as 2nd, so he can knock any potential threats off the track. Michelin rubber and as for an engine.... well.... uh.... I dunno..... Lockheed Martins are pretty damn fast. That`ll do me.

Rofl he doesn't need more years. You give him years and he'll be another Schumacher (he already is), he'll probably win over 7 championships and you're telling me he's not good enough yet?

I don't think the question is talent, it's longevity. Because Alonso has won a WDC and looks poised to do it again, does that make him a 'legend?' In my eyes, not yet. Sure, he has a very, very bright future left but he still needs to come good on that future. Alex Criville won a world title and had a bright future but would you consider him a 'legend?' I wouldn't, same goes for KRJR. For the record, I am not discounting Alonso, Criville or Roberts' titles nor am I saying they are less talented than other champions, I am just saying they are not legends in my eyes. They haven't accomplished enough to earn that title.

Oh, and since it's been pointed out that this is for current drivers, teams etc. I will ammend my team.

Driver 1: Fernando Alonso
Driver 2: Marco Andretti or Sebastien Bourdais

Bourdais has been deserving of a ride in Europe and is still yet to get one and it's only a matter of time before the next in the Andretti line makes his way over. He's been very impressive in his debut IRL season and is not content to stay in the states and make left turns. He, Michael and Mario all have their sights on seeing Marco move to Europe for 2007.

he isnt already another schumacher. he has won one world championship which makes him a very good driver. jacques villeneuve won a world title but no one would call him a legend. if he wins as much as the other drivers then yes he will become a legend but not yet.

totally agree with you there ooost. but whats the point alex of starting a topic to ask people what their dream F1 team would be then telling people who they should pick?? waste of time

He is not a legend yet, he needs to win many more races to be called a legend.

He is on track to be the greatest ever but at this point he could keep on winning and be the next Schumi (without the cheats) or he could be the next Emo (Emerson Fittipaldi).

Both Emo and Schu were 2 times champions at a very young age but Emo left McLaren and joined coperSucar (a Brazilian shitbox car made by his brother) and the rest of his career was spent in the midfield.
On the other hand Schu joined Ferrari and everyone knows how that story ends (5 WDCs more).

So the conclusion is, YOU NEED TO MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICES!!!
And I think going to McLaren is a good decision, maybe they wont be superb now or next year, but you know that McLaren will always be near the top.

Speaking of the Alonso talk above and not taking anything away from him cause hes a very good driver, but he's not even close to becoming a legend. He barely beat Schumi and Kimi last year, and they had terrible cars! Only reason he's ahead this year is because of the Renault reliability.

The 07 Dream team though has to be Schumi and Kimi @ Ferrari.
But honestly for "good season" purposes i would like to see Kimi go to Renault and Mercedes step up and make a competive car. A 3 way battle between Alonso, Schumi and Kimi would be awesome!!

So you're honestly saying you wouldn't call him one to remember yet even if he doesn't win any more races (which is impossible for him I suppose), since when did you see a YOUNG driver as good as him?

where in that post did i say that he isnt one too remember? read it again and see where i put that he is a very good driver. stop alonso bopping me!! i havent anywhere said that i dont rate him as a driver.. i do! but you have to wait before you can name him amongst one of the greats
