Wow - So it's happening them!

Herve says that he was made an offer for 2019 that he couldn't turn down.

"To summarize 20 years of an incredible partnership between Tech3 and Yamaha in a few words is a very difficult mission. Since I first met Mr. Iio in 1998, where he gave me the opportunity to join Yamaha Motor Corporation, it has been an extraordinary journey together. All I remember are fantastic memories, great results, an awesome atmosphere and astonishing feelings we shared with the Yamaha family, which will always be in my mind and in my heart. Clearly, to end that kind of partnership is a big decision for me. All I want to say is more than a huge thank you to Yamaha, to Mr. Tsuji, Mr. Tsuya, Mr. Jarvis and Mr. Nakajima, plus all the guys that have been supporting and helping us.

Tech3 is a small company, which has to think about the future and has to weigh the different options. We’ve been offered a deal, that includes something we’ve been waiting for almost since we started with Tech3 and I couldn’t say no. But obviously, we are the Monster Yamaha Team until the last lap of the Valencia GP 2018. Johann Zarco and Hafizh Syahrin will be fighting for top positions and without a doubt, Yamaha can count on us to be a loyal performant partner.

One more time a huge thank you for Yamaha’s support. I hope they can carry on and have the success they deserve and eventually find a partner to replace Tech3"

Who do we think they are going with - KTM?

And what are Yamaha going to do - I think 2019 is going to be too early for the VR46 team to move up to the big class...
Can they run without a Satelite team?

You guys must have posted at the same time. But its ok I have kept my answers short so that its easy to duplicate them.

Here we go ....

Kawasaki . Winkyface ... ( I think youve been gypped macca there are no smileys on you page for me )

I would be happy to see Yamaha get a real good dose of karma. They have pointed the VR46 gun at Herve and said go, you're neither wanted or needed at Yamaha. I am very happy he has secured a good deal for Tech 3, as I see him as one of the few gentlemen in MotoGP. As far as Yamaha and Jarvis go, I would love to see them getting a deserved arse kickin' for a while, including from Herve on whatever bike he has chosen to go with.

Don't be too emotional about these things. They are not for the team owners.

For Herve it's almost certainly about getting a better deal, nothing to do with hurt feelings. The satellite deal with Yamaha is very clear, you only get last year's bike and no factory goodies. The VR 46 talk must have been a blessing in disguise for him. He runs one of the most professional squads in the paddock and fully deserves a semi factory deal.

Plenty of privateer teams have switched manufacturers over the years. Pramac, Gresini... It's alla bout getting a better deal, techwise or money wise. Nothing to do with emotions.

There can only be two teams, KTM or Suzuki. But I think it will be Suzuki, KTM--> Red Bull, Tech3--> Monster. Hope they get a good bike they deserve it.

Maybe emotions were not involved, but I strongly suspect it was fairly clear to Herve there was not much in the way of a long term future for Tech 3 as a Yamaha team.

Weren't monster pulling their sponsorship until Zarco and Folger made a great impression last year? Wouldn't be all the surprising to see tech 3 running with red bull as a sponsor using a KTM.

Thats good on you Herve, but I'd expect Yamaha will give you the Ben Spies treatment for 2018.

Hey Duc, can you merge these two threads.

Report this post maybe he will see it. haha

Yes, Zarco and Folger saved that sponsorship for one more year. Then Folger quitting about cost them that.

Poor Zarco, he was already facing tune down so he couldn’t embarrass the factory boys, now the poor ....... doesn’t stand a chance. Instead of couple hundred rpm deficit, look for around 5-600

The end of such a successful partnership is always a bit sad, as it also marks the end of a long-term relationship. We are very grateful for Hervé’s loyalty and support to the Yamaha brand and for the excellent results obtained throughout that time.

I know it’s business but they publically announced that they would honor Herve ‘s loyalty and support by kicking him to the curb any time Rossi said he was ready. I have news for Carmelo, if he thinks his quote that he would change the rules to allow a Rossi team in he has another thing coming. He says all the teams would vote to let it happen but Herve says absolutely no it won’t happen because the existing teams were not going to de value themselves to help Rossi.

Surely Tech3 are off to KTM with Factory equipment. This could be a real good thing in time. Zarco gets full factory support.

Surely going to shake up the grid a bit.

Can see KTM being a force in 2-3 years time.

I'm guessing we will see another Carmelo clause this year.

remember -

"What we want is for Valentino to remain an active part of the championship," Ezpeleta told Autosport.

"Will he have a team? If he wants to, yes.

"We will not grant any more licences in MotoGP, apart from if Valentino asks us.

"If he wants a team in MotoGP, he will have it.

"I'm sure if we ask the other teams, they would all want us to offer that possibility [to Rossi]."

That’s where he will hit a snag. The other teams will not want the competition of going against Rossi for sponsorship and will say no, or at least Herve will and all it takes is one.

there are six private teams: LCR, Pramac, Gresini, Tech3, Aspar and Avintia with contract until 2021. That contract says no one can enter this championship as a new team. If anyone wants to enter, they must buy an existing team, or come to an agreement with an existing team … Nothing can happen until the end of 2021, except that Lucio [Cecchinello] has a second bike.
The limit of motorcycles on the grid makes it impossible “for someone, let’s say Valentino Rossi, to join in 2019,” Poncharal explains, “unless we all agree on the entry of two other bikes, and that’s not going to happen because then you lose your value” .

So a new entry is based on a %100 yes vote of privateer teams to pass?

Herve said at the Valencia test when being interviewed about the situation that all teams had to agree to it but he wouldn't. If DORNA tried to force it he would take them to court.

Sooooo I'm thinking, assuming that tech3 is going to KTM of course.

Pol to stay in the factory team, Zarco to red bull, Oliveira to tech3 with factory support and Syahrin to get another year if he has a decent showing.
