Very pointed remarks from Ronald Ten Kate about the tyres used for the Supersport races at both Imola & Phillip Island.

Take a look at the difference of the tyre photo's in the article.

Broc Parkes tyre after just 5 laps.

Then came in & changed to exactly the same spec tyre & did 10 laps & broke the lap record.

Some serious quality control problems at Pirelli I reckon.

Watched it and didn't find the races compelling. Plus I find the voice of Johnathan Green grates on my nerves like nails on a chalkboard.

Haven't heard Green, but I'd consider a temporary trade for Burnicle and Witham, the English twerps on Eurosport. They display zero situational awareness and do little more than babble incoherently.

Agree that the race was a bit of a snooze. There were some good passes, but no battles to speak of. On top of that, Imola doesn't have any 'real' corners left. Watching the bikes flip-flop through an endless series of medium speed 'S' corners gets kinda old.

The report on crash.net said he'd be sent to the "spinal injury" unit, so that's whats worrying.

i hope everything will be ok...

any info on how the crash actually happened?

imola is far too dangerous, especially that last chicane needs to be changed immediatly, i'm surprised nothing bad happened there already

One thing that really bothered me about all the races at Imola is the very last chicane.

This part of the track is a death trap just waiting to claim someone. I saw several riders lose the front there & start to slide back on to the racing surface.

They literally were on their stomachs right in the racing line. If anyone had been in their slipstream they would have been in big trouble.

I mentioned this a couple years ago.

yeah but how, highside and then into the wall or what happened?

No one seems to know. It is an odd place to crash. But either way he hit a concrete wall.

Italian media reporting some very grim stuff about all of this, hopefully the statement tomorrow morning is positive.

not the best translation from the big sports ppl Gazzetta.

In testing the Spaniard has lost control of Kawasaki's there was a fracture to the spine and was transported to the hospital Maggiore in Bologna. It seems that spinal injuries are very serious

Serious accident in Superbike testing at Imola during the day after the dispute of the second round of the World. The Spaniard Joan Lascorz, 27 years, Kawasaki rider and team mate Tom Sykes, has lost control in the short uphill straight leading from the curve to that of Tosa Piratella. At that point, Kawasaki, 240 horses, traveling at 200 km / h. The pilot was immediately transported to the circuit medical center where it was detected a possible fractured spine. Approximately 40 'after the terrible flight Lascorz was initiated by helicopter to the hospital more of Bologna to be admitted into your spine. The pilot entered the operating room to 16. The doctors maintain the prognosis but it seems that spinal injuries are very serious, and the possibility of avoiding the paralysis of the lower limbs very poor. Meanwhile in the circuit, the police has seized parts of the Kawasaki ZX-10R number 17 that the technical team, meanwhile, had already taken steps to dismantle for required inspections. In the violent collision with the barriers to the frame was split in two.
