WSBK Rd#2 Donington

What a race that was by far the best racing of any class so far this season.

well done marco unlucky smrz your time will come

and just deserts to biaggi

can't wait for race 2

Perjaps, somebody can word it better than me; but get the feeling that WSBK is giving Ducati something to lure them back. Something like, hey we want u back, and we r still willing to give u any advantage u need.

Maybe Jum, but I think it's easy to underestimate Checa and his apparent love of the Ducati. I think the two are just gelling very well. Smrz has always been fast on it, hopefully he will have more strong races.

After checking, they have made a change in the rules. Instead of starting the season at 168 Kilo fir the twins, they both start at 165 kilo. Shouldnt be any big deal, towards the end of last season, the Ducati was running at 162 kilo and still getting swamped. Todays racing was very good, and showed what a variety of tires can bring to the table. The very thing we were discussing in the GP tire thread happened today. Soft tire jumps to big lead, hard tire comes back and wins race 1. Same drama in race 2 but the soft held on for the win. Melandri looking good, if he can keep Checa from building to much of a lead, this thing could get interesting as Melandri continues to gel with the Yamaha. WTF was up with Biaggi, he looked stoned today.Did his little ..... fight distract him that much.

Oh forgot to mention, saw races and intermission on Eurosport. Jesus H Christ, we r missing a .... load of coverage in the States. I cant believe u guys actually talk about the races with a panel and interviews to boot. Speed sucks balls.

I dont see this season legitimizing WSBK. If Checa wins title, what does it say about the series. If Melandri wins title, what does that say about the series? Haslam is out, he just cant mount a challenge on a BMW that is two years away. The Honda boys r still injured, Suzuki has gone by the way of Kawasaki. Biaggi, wtf with the meltdown.

Can you imagine what would happen if Biaggi put his hands on someone like Aaron Yates.

No b/c he wouldn't get that close.

Overall, two pretty good races in WSBK. I'm glad Checa got held up in Race 1 b/c it allowed for good racing at the front. Too bad for Smrz, but if you look at the beginning of the race, he was backing it in so much that his rear tire was never going to last the distance. Melandri looked great, I'm really happy that he has regained his form. If he manages to take down the title, I hope he is not tempted by 1000cc MotoGP competition. He's too good not to have multiple premier class world championships in either WSBK or MotoGP. Tardozzi deserves a lot of credit for helping him get his head straight.

Race 2 was pretty uneventful, but Camier put in a ridiculous ride. Good ride by Melandri in second, and solid performance from Lascorz in 5th. The BMW is still fading and experiencing electrical glitches according to the Eurosport guys. Quite disappointing. Rae and Laverty were also disappointing. I know Rae was banged up again, but he's got to stop crashing. No idea what the deal was with Laverty. Guintoli was also nowhere and I wonder if it would not have been better to sit this round out rather than ride with a really bad right wrist.

Can't believe how good Scassa is in WSS. I knew the kid had talent, but I never imagined he'd do anything in WSS since he's so big. I certainly never thought he'd beat Chaz b/c Chaz was riding some pretty trick 600s when he was racing FX in the AMA. Very interesting.

BTW, was it just me or did Crescent Suzuki say that Hopper was going to be a wild card at Donnington. Did they withdraw his entry to keep him in good nick for Jerez or was he supposed to wild card at Silverstone in WSBK?

Interesting thoughts Lex.

About the wildcards; I don't know about Hopper but the BSB teams decided to not enter this round because it would apparently interfere with their preperation for the BSB season. We should get a decent amount of wildcard entries at Silverstone (and the other european rounds).

Melandri got the better of Biatchi the most damaging way possible, ON THE TRACK!

Always thought Melendri had some talent and find myself routing for him this year.

Hope he spanks the emperors butt all year and the only way it could get even better is if the GOAT came over and spanked it as well.

I can honestly say that in the 40 years i have been following bike racing, i have never seen the center of a wheel come completely out. That is insane. Lucky he was on a slow section of the track when it happened

well done marco...any1 see biaggi and him after superpole??

I'll try to find a link

Ok...I pulled for Biaggi last year...and hoped he would have another good year, but after seeing that video...I think Mad Max is back and sadly for me, I don't like Mad Max. He definitely had a bad weekend and I myself would like to see a statement from him apologizing to Melandri but I doubt that happens. Melandri certianly showed who the top Italian was at Donny....can he keep it up all season? I for one hope so, I would like to see him do well.
