WSBK - Portimao Discussion - final race of the year

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (krusty @ Nov 3 2008, 07:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Troy Bayliss is an absolute champion, both a champion rider and a champion person! It's really a shame to see him retire when he is still the best superbike rider in the world and the best by a country mile!

What a fitting end to his career. He could not have scripted it any better;

1) He wins his last ever MotoGP race (and the last 990 race for his beloved Ducati)
2) Takes the WSBK title in his last year (and retires as the world champion)
3) Wins the last superpole of the year (and the last ever superpole)
4) Completes the double and wins his last race!

You are a star Troy! This could not have happened to a nicer bloke!

+1

It's not going to be the same without him, he's not only a good bloke, he's always entertaining to watch .

What a fantastic sbk meeting that was!! Best racing of the year imo, excellent track with just about everything you need there,it just flowed from corner to corner and the drops were summat` else.Definately one to visit if abroad, great days racing.

First I've heard about that. Sounds great though.

I'm pretty sure BSB are having an F1 style knockout session, but I've heard nothing about WSB.

Very strong showing from the Brits this weekend, lots to get excited about with Rea for next season. Bayliss was brilliant, great way to sign off a legendary superbike career. Sweet track too.

Good weekend for Carlos... a good 2nd place from 11th on the grid, and would have repeated it in race 2 had Xaus not bailed right in front of him.

Bayliss was simply amazing, he will be badly missed in WSB.

However, next year is the big chance for Haga. He's got Bayliss' ride, so he has to be favourite. If he doesn't get it next year, he may as well give up.

Portimao was a very good track, provided some excellent racing.

after valencia, rossi asked if there was any chance he couldve joined the wsbk Portimao race!!! how awsome would that have been if he wouldve raced too

That would have been amazing.

What happened? Did Yamaha not let him do it or something?

Fantastic end to Bayliss' career - a true champion!
And that track is awesome. When is it going to be put on the motoGP circuit? We need it now! I'm in agreement - dump Valencia and put it on.

probably the best way to sign off on your career. a real "fairytale ending" (if you can use fairytale with ref to bayliss!)

a fitting end to the career of a true racer and gent..
