Thought I would start a thread on Portimao. We have a few days until qualifying, but I am looking forward to the final race of the year. The new track looks excellent, lots of elevation changes. It is of course Bayliss's final appearance. I will be pulling for him to pick up a win at least in Race 2 to put a nice bookend on his career. Also, not sure what the story is behind it but Sofuoglu is going to race in Rea's spot in WSS and Rea will be racing in WSBK?

not sure think Rea deffo got his seat in WSBK for 09 so maybe just a bit of a run out
think there's a section being named in honour of "Jonsey" too and haslam/crutchlow wild carding ?

Yep. He's definitely on the Superbike next year, with Sofuoglu back down to WSS. They've given Rea a ride on the Superbike as there's no title to fight for now.

Rea is ....... impressive for his first ever ride on the WSB Ten Kate, Superglue wishes he could have done that.

Testing may have helped Cal and Leon, but it's very nice to see them there.

Plus rain is the great equalizer.Look at Josh Hayes in SS,the testing he did there is also paying dividends.

Wet track. I think they were doing 40's in the test

Great to see Leon and Cal acquitting themselves well. Never thought I'd say this - can't wait until superpole tomorrow!

I HATE DUTCH SUPERBIKE COMMENTATORS!
<

ffs, they dont even know who nmr 76 was (uhmm... kagayama?? uhmmm..... is it that german, Neukirchner??? NOOO its defenatly kagayama!) and then they talk about who goes where next year (rolfo is going to aprilia next year
<
). then they look at their screens, see kagayama riding at the 10-15th place and it goes like 'HEEEEEEY he's BACK!!' haga takes over haslam, they think haga is corser. haslam goes back cause haga pushed him out, and they say 'where is haslam??? where did he go???'
<
ffs
<

other than that, great race
<
very exciting, especially the first part of the race. and what a great track!!

Haslam! - what a man! what a man!
<
<

made my fooking day it has!

makes me proud to be one of the "Haslam's Hunnies"

It's superb isn't it - a bit of everything, and very safe with acres of run off before the gravel traps. Very impressive.

Great result for Haslam, and nice to see the boys from Louth back in WSB if only for a weekend. As pleased as I am to see Glen Richards and Josh Brookes ride those bikes in BSB next year, that team should be back in World Supers where it belongs and where it claimed two world titles with Colin.

So Paul Bird is running the Kawasaki effort next year? - It can't be any worse than PSG.

Great ride by Leon - just a pity they hoisted the German flag over him on the podium.
<
They were obviously hoping for Neukirchner to be up there.

I still can't quite believe we're never going to see Bayliss racing again though.

great racing and track!

looks the biz!

What a grand finale and WSBK is by far better racing the MotoGP.. So sad to see T.Bayliss leaving WSBK. But I believe he may be back once a while as a wild card rider or just as a spectator..
<

Troy Bayliss is an absolute champion, both a champion rider and a champion person! It's really a shame to see him retire when he is still the best superbike rider in the world and the best by a country mile!

What a fitting end to his career. He could not have scripted it any better;

1) He wins his last ever MotoGP race (and the last 990 race for his beloved Ducati)
2) Takes the WSBK title in his last year (and retires as the world champion)
3) Wins the last superpole of the year (and the last ever superpole)
4) Completes the double and wins his last race!

You are a star Troy! This could not have happened to a nicer bloke!

Last superpole EVER?????

Have I missed something here?
