Rossi and Marco might get on but Marco cannot take the mental pressure of knowing the Doc is riding up his tail pipes. I remember a few races when he actually asked the guys putting the board out of the pitlane to just display the time gap between him and the rider following him, but not the rider's name!
Because he knew he'd screw up if it was Rossi. Don't know if he still does that...
Having said that I agree that Nicky might be consistent, but it's practically impossible he'll get to the end of the season without a single DNF or finishing in some positions worse than second. Nicky's a great rider but he can't set the pace. If Rossi plays his cards well, he can still manage.
