Would the introduction of a seamless gearbox to the Yamaha make them unbeatable?

Meaning?

There's a rumour going around that Land Rover Jaguar have some of the worst electronics in the history of the world. Perhaps word hasn't got back to the factory yet.

JLR has issues with engine calibrations?

I thought that was GM India...

Definitely JLR...... Rumor has it that the programmers and developers are having too many power lunches and spending too much time chatting about how wonderful Rossi and Burgess have been to MotoGP. There are even whispers that they don't know who is responsible for what, hence JLR's root problem.

If its worth so little why chase the development?

Surely a big step forward in speed is often achieved through a number of small gains. An improvement of a tenth a second a lap seems a big gain to me compared to the many much smaller gains they've probably been working on.

yeah a tenth or 2 is a pretty good gain for a single dev on the gearbox side, thats 2-5 secs a race which would have changed a few race results this year, in time anyway.

There's a rumour going round that BMWs have shocking engine reliability (4th from bottom) whilst Jag are 5th from top and LR 10th.  Not perfect, but outperforming many brands.

I work in PowerTrain on the Engine Software Cal, so the rest of the vehicle electronics are not my fault ;)

Ah yes, the GM India "fake" emissions tests and fudged weights.  Amazing that they got away with it from 2005 when Bharat Stage 3 emissions limits came in, until this year!!

What is it with European [ mainly British } cars and electrical issues.  I was in the automobile business for 20 plus years, and damn near every  one of them had problematic electrical  history. Even back to my youth, when everyone wanted an MG, you get one, had electrical issues. I was trying to trade for a Jag Vanden Plas once, and knew they had a bad reputation. I didnt want the damn thing, so i called 4-5 wholesalers and they were hitiing it at 3 grand, had a book of 12500.00. My finance manager said if i could get it on trade for 3k, he would buy it. Surprisingly enough, the guy took the bid of 3k and we traded. He knew it was a piece of ..... My finance manager bought it and within a month, it had burned to the ground on the side of the interstate. The story has a happy ending though, the insurance company wrote him a check for close to 15k. He told me to find him another one just like it. . Really though, what is it with the British and their lack of understanding when it comes to wiring.

Faultless might keep your job at JLR but it don't buy anything here.

Usually the auto electrics jokes were levelled at the Italians (usually due to the earthing point having rusted away!!)

I believe that the root cause of many electrical issues with older British cars should really be laid at the door of Joe Lucas, "Prince of Darkness"!!

That's fine,  I'm not selling anything here :)

JLR is a company employing some 3500 engineers in Product Development (PD) - as a contractor in PowerTrain PD, I ain't responsible for the rest of the workforce.

Notice I didn't say there was anything wrong with the rest of the vehicle electronics, just that they are not part of my remit. That's hardly passing the buck now, is it?

Or did you think that I design the whole of each of the many different vehicles we make singlehandedly, then control the production lines in my spare time ;)

Oh  so you are not even part of the work force or management just a little shop that makes stuff for them ie contractor. And you can't develop anything except for a few low wage workers to produce the parts they tell you to. Way to go big boy. You definitely got JLR by the balls with all your development skills LOL

If you had the slightest inkling about the way the Auto industry operates, your attempts at biting humour might have the effect you wished.

Instead it makes you look like a clueless JkD wannabe. And that's a sad thing to be.

Talk about clueless you sir have no idea about what I know of the automobile industry. However I do know what an auto contractor is. Which neither one of you two so called experts so generously spew out seem to know about.

As far as JKD - I had rather be his friend for one minute then die than to spend a lifetime around your rude ... listening to your insults.

edit - sorry forum the profanity slipped out - not to worry I put five dollars in the profanity jar for my mistake.

Oh dear. Nice try!

Your JkD impression is getting better. Wandering around the threads bagging people and then whinging about rudeness.

But he's more fun.

Yes - I can see that. JKD being the soul of civility and affability.

OK you have processed information wrong again. I never said I wanted to be like JKD instead I said I would rather have him as a friend. Sad part is I have only been here a short time and yet I know this. Can your faulty mind imagine what others who have been here for years think of your attitude toward newbies (me) and your self appointed superiority over other members (JKD).

Perhaps you should take some time to ponder your role here with other members

In the meantime if your goal is to exchange insults then by all means send one and I will be happy to respond in kind........ or you can stop and we both can put our efforts into discussing MotoGP. You make the choice.

Ahhh, bless.

Dish out the insults and then make demands that I desist.

No demands. I am giving you the choice and it makes absolutely no difference to me which path you choose
