Would the introduction of a seamless gearbox to the Yamaha make them unbeatable?

With talk that they will be testing it at a private test in Brno on 6th and 7th August how much lap time would it actually give the bikes over the current gearbox, would it be a massive game changer?

If its worth so little why chase the development?

Apart from the cumulative gain in lap time throughout the entire duration of a race, supposedly slicker, smoother transmission as a rider aid alongside a modicum of fuel economy.

The only reason it wasn't in there from the start of this season was due to a lack of testing time.

Would the introduction of commas, periods and capitals to Cliches posts make them understandable and less seamless

I don't think it's going to make it 'unbeatable' but I do think it is what Yamaha needs right now... Both riders are requesting it as top priority and this will be even more critical next year when they go down to 20 liters of fuel.

If the factory guys get this soon, Cal is going to throw a fit... lol.

Seamless Gearbox gives most people the wrong idea and they don't realize it's just more electronics.

They should call it by it's real name - a shift lever w/ throttle control

Or I could invent a name for them.

Nano Shift   Torqueless Shift   Bam Shift   Zoomie Shift

And my favorite The Shitless Shift - guaranteed to not soil your panties when changing gears

As far as I understand it, it most certainly is not just more electronics, but a first and foremost a mechnical solution allowing two gears to be selected but not engaged simultanously. Then again, HRC are rather secretive about it.

Mostly I was joking about but..........

The shift lever on a motogp bike is an electrical switch (since air is impractical or is it - pneumatic valves) and not mechanical linkage. Each shift dog controls two gears so no problem engaging both and using an electro magnetic switch to select between the two.

Heck even my new lawnmower has an electro switch to engage the mower deck with a button and it starts up the deck 10 times faster than the mechanical lever control on my old mower.

Most of this new seamless gearbox is software and not hardware.

I don't know - you let your period dictate the nature of your posts. I suspect Cliche isn't so driven by his lady parts as you are.

Oh Kay. You calling me a ....., but you must remember that the ....... say when you can have ... and when you can't.

If I am going to be a ..... then I'm going to be a good one and bend you over and screw you every time I feel like it.

Or we can stop this petty mud slinging and treat each other like MotoGP fans.
