I think no because Pedrosa will win it

It's a little early for this...the 2006 championship has only just ended and you're going on about Hayden retiaining it next year?

Two Words:-
Valentino Rossi

Not Rossi either. Pedrosa maybe, but because all the bikes are from scratch, all the same year (i.e no last year bikes like Pramac) and all equal, its utterly impossible to predict.

nope...cause Rossi's pissed....pay back in 07.
<

06 was a "BLIP" year...Nick got lucky...1st and last Championship..he better get quick and beat Dani all year..

i voted no because his performance is not that of a multiple world champion.
if he wants to win it next year and /or future years he will have to learn how to win more races and that means pushing harder rather than cruising for easy points. in short "grow some balls nicky"

pedrosa has got used to the bikes and he likes the new size of the 800's. he has also got to know the riders' styles and tracks a bit more. he is in a good chance next season

n, im going for the V-ster, he'll whoop everyone!! im lying!!! haha Rossi, or hmmm Capirossi... although i think the suzis will be alot better this year!!

I say Nicky has as much chance as anyone next year. All new bikes and some of the tracks will be new for these bikes as well...Who knows, maybe Nicky will "luck" into a 2nd title and that oughta spark some real interesting discussions.

I'm going to say no reason being is because the RC211V was dialed in by Valentino Rossi. In its first two years in competition he brought Honda the World Championship. Upon leaving and heading to Yamaha, he did the the same for them by making sure the M1 was developed to race against the best bike out there... the RC.

Now that MotoGP is headed into the 800cc era, I don't think Nicky and Dani have the knowledge to get a bike dialed in its first year. Valentino has proved it twice with the RC and the M1. I see Valentino regaining the championship.

But NH didn't ride the '05 bike this year....It was more of a hodge podge of parts if you will. We can only wait til next year to see.

All I hope is that next year the title comes down to the last race of the year again. Definately was an exciting finish. I would feel this way even if Hayden had lost.

I voted no, it seems to me that it takes Nicky a little longer to come to terms with a new bike and he even stated that he will have to change his riding style to the 800. We might get to see Nicky push more next year hence resulting in more crashes.

As far as all of the "luck" comments, come on guys/gals it's been stated before, you make your own luck and this year was Nicky's year...probably his only year and I think his accomplishment however ignored by the media here in the US deserves props.

Why no love for Burgess? Vale carried him over to Yamaha for a reason, you know.
<
And yes, I do think the Yamaha is going to be the best bike simply because Rossi and Burgess will be building it.

I'm glad to hear that the Suzuki 990 chassis with the 800cc motor in it went quicker than the 990 Suzuki did at Valencia. I want to see Hopkins up front regularly!

However, is it really encouraging? Is out-pacing the Suzuki 990 that big of a deal? Is the GSV-R so ...... that, some day, one is bound to make an improvement over it? And maybe it's down to the tight Valencia circuit benefitting a lighter bike?

Ha ha ha, em I the only person that thinks its funny how people keep coming up with ways (some creative) to take shots at Hayden?

Reading all the threads after Portugal, people took shots and said Hayden didn't have what it takes to be champion (I’m being mild here), then just before the last race most predicted on a poll a resounding win by Rossi. I even saw one that predicted a DNF for Hayden.

Result: Hayden wins. (Rossi crashes).

So here is my prediction for next year: Hayden wins.

I agree that Nicky didn't show the stuff of a repeat champion this year. It was the "Nicky doesn't deserve it" garbage that I didn't agree with. He needs to start winning races, no doubt about that. Maybe he will; his performance in Valencia was magnificent. He picked himself up after going down 8 points with just one race to go. Nicky got a good start and raced hard early at Valencia, putting pressure on The Doctor himself. Rossi laid it down and Nicky cruised to the championship.

This was a truly evil season that took its toll on many riders. Nicky ran consistently and lead the points for most of the year. After he lost the lead to a racing god with one race to go, he put his head down and put the pressure on. Nicky deserves his crown, but he hasn't shown us that he will be another Rainey or Lawson...yet.

Hi roger-m,

"not that of a multiple world champion" not giving the guy much credit, but hey, not many did this year, especially after Portugal.

I'm not so sure 150+mph is exactly "cruising" and really, I'm not to eager to check on his "balls" but he did show at "...-en"

what he's made of. What say you?

You're right about Burgess, my bad. But we all know that the public always looks at the riders accomplishments and misfortunes.

Hi Mr. Shupe and Roger-m,

What is the quality of a "multiple" champion winner the FIRST year he wins the championship? (as you give me your well thought out answer, please remember the first years that, Lawson, Mamola, Rainey and other greats exibited.) Notice I'm asking about their FIRST year they won the title. I'm interested in knowing what you think Hayden is lacking at this point that these other champs exibited at the SAME point in their careers.
