Who's getting axe'd from the Motogp grid for 07?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Ooost @ Jul 27 2006, 05:49 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>Who knows about Cardoso, Luis d'Antin will have a hard time finding anyone else with as much talent as Cardoso who has any cash behind him to assist in paying his way for such a lowly team.

Tamada will need a miracle to save his ride or else he'll be relegated to a Honda WSB team.

Stoner won't work at Yamaha, he wants equal machinery as Rossi and equal input in the development (supposedly). One of the reasons Rossi left Honda was because they were planning on not having a lead rider in 2004 and giving everyone equal machinery. It didn't fly with Rossi at Honda and it certainly won't fly with Rossi at Yamaha. I think Edwards will stay where he is for 2007.

I don't think there will be much change this season, although after 2007 or 2008 I can see Gibernau, Capirossi, Edwards and Checa all hangin' 'em up.

doesnt edwards get the same input into the bike as vale does tho?? so wudnt stoner get the same??

and he does smile ..... on rare occassion

gotta admit ... the kid has talent

i dont think his talent can be measured
lightest, smallest kid on the fastest bike

Hi Tinks, welcome mate. Edwards can do whatever he wants to his bike in terms of set up but Rossi says what direction they go in terms of development, Rossi decided what engine to run with or how stiff the chassis should feel whereas Colin just gets to make adjustments..I think.

I'm sure Colin has some say in the development but I would be willing to bet that if Rossi didn't agree with it, Yamaha would go with Rossi on the decisioin. And that's understandable. I think Edwards has the most input in development when it comes to Michelin, nearly equal to Rossi.

i would've assumed that rossi and edwards would have equal input on the development ... but like you said Ooost, he is the world champion for a reason and they'd prob take his advice over edwards's

Skidmark, what would happen if edwards prefered a a stiffer chassis or a different engine? ... would rossi be 'top dog' and have it all go his way? or would it not matter that much?

1. Jose Luis Cardoso
2. Makoto Tamada
3. Colin Edwards
4. Sete Gibernau
5. James Ellison
6. Alex Hofmann

I think all of the above riders will not be in MotoGP next year.

That`s a lot of shoes to fill, though, I don`t think there`s enough suitable replacements in line for that kinda mass firing

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Haga @ Aug 21 2006, 07:02 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}><div class='quotemain'>1. Jose Luis Cardoso

i could agree with these 3 with hoffman likely to go. especially considering the fact that he's had the factory duc twice & has failed to even get in the top ten!

Yeah, barring team financial woes, The Hoff will be back on some cursed Dunlop-shod bike next year. I think his lack of performance on the factory bike indicates that it won`t be him replacing Sete next year.

but surely hoffman's bike is just the crappy d'antin bike in factory livery.. they cant put him on sete's bike as it wouldnt suit his riding style.
they did this last year with lanzi in the WSBK when he was replacing lanzi... just plastered factory colours on his bike...

anyways who i think will go..
cardoso
tamada

could you call his performance on the factory bike lacking?
i havent really followed where on the grid the hoff has been, but i assumed he hadn't done TOO badly for the little time that he had done on the bike... so i dont know ... tell me peoples?

He's The Hofmeister, you can't expect much more than a 13th place finish with excellent feedback. He, Cardoso, Toseland and Biaggi are four of six or seven riders Luis d'Antin is considering for his team in 2007. Rumor has it that the d'Antin team will receive much more funding from Pramac in 2007, much more support from Ducati and top shelf Bridgestone tires.

Its rumoured Casey Stoners options with Ducati and Yamaha are no longer available, and apparently now hes put his foot in it and asked for waaaay to much money from Lucio Ceccinello for 07 ($2.5mil) and he (L.C) doesnt want anything to do with Stoner anymore, as a result of crashes, arrogance and bad mouthing of the team, plus the ridiculous request for a pay rise...

If Stoner has done that to himself, I say its all he deserves...

Others going:-
1. Ellison
2. Tamada
3. Cardoso

Replacements:-
1. Guintoli (Tech3)
2. Takahashi (Konica)
3. Biaggi/Toseland(D'Antin)

New:-
1. West (Ilmor)??
2. Biaggi (Ilmor)??
3. McWilliams (BMW)
<
ye right..

Should be interesting to see the reshuffling...
Its rumoured that Ducati will be running a second satellite team, owned by Germans that will keep Hoffman in GP, along with Gibernau, Gibbers to be replaced by a youngster... ( Thats the reason Hoffman has been filling in at Marlboro

)

Cheers..

i would be stupid for stoner to be in the ducati team anyway IMO its better for him to stay on a honda.... stoner is not a development rider

west - doubt it

biaggi - heres hoping

mcwilliams - something i wouldnt mind seing

Next year everyone will be a development rider to some extent. And yesKatt I'd love to see Jeremy on something quick, another KRJR there. Things would have been very different for him if he'd had another passport.

KRSR is certainly trying to line up some funding so he can get that second bike. If he does get another bike and McWilliams is free from the BMW deal he would be a prime candidate for the seat. From what I understand, he still has a good relationship with the Banbury boys and was rather impressive aboard the old KR V5.
