Which countries have the best/worst tracks?

Easy for me:

Western Europe and the UK specifically.

I'd love to elaborate (and I will), but I'm far too tired.

Worst: The nasty concrete tracks with overbanding (any county applies to this).

Cheap ... efforts...will elaborate too.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Problematic question for me because i know so little about the circuits in other countries that i haven't seen on televised events and championships, but i could easily factor in circuits like lyden hill and croft when weighing up England's offerings. Based only on the major circuits we do see often though i think Italy and The UK are the best for the number of beautiful tracks, but who's to say more is better when countries like the czech republic have somewhere as good as Brno and very little else.

Overall i love the British tracks though, because of the history, the style of circuits and the fact that considering how small the country is we have loads of them (think of an awesome circuit density).

For worst circuits i think it would be easy to say the US because of all the silly oval tracks and banked rubbish they have, but maybe thats none of my business because they are circuits built types of motorsport i am not concerned with, or at least it would be if they didnt try to race motorbikes on them. I also hate street circuits covered in armco like everything on the Champ car calender, its too bumpy and it doesn't look impressive of create good racing.

Good - UK, Spain, Italy and Oz in that order!

I don't rate spanish tracks that highly because they are all quite new in the greater scheme of things, they carry very little history and were all purpose built as race tracks in modern times.

Ok, my absolute worst:Sepang and everything else designed by Tilke (like Bahrain and Shangai)
The reason:These tracks were designed for F1 racing and to offer more opportunities for over-taking (which they failed to deliver...) as a result they are as wide as an air corridor plus they have awfully long straights. In short, they don't fit at all with motogp racing.

My favourites:They are those that appear on the left plus some older tracks like Zolder(Netherlands), Brands Hatch(UK), Dijon(FR) and those tracks that resemble them. Finally all the road circuits like Isle of Man, Adelaide(AUS), Long Beach(US) etc...

I guess you missed last years race then?

Are we talking about best for racing...........or best for the fans during a race weekend, coz I suspect that they will provide different answers!

have you been to zolder before? I just asked my dad if he has been there and he told me that it was all very old fashioned there, but the organisation of the track was very good, people could reach the track very easy.

o and zolder is just below eindhoven in belgium

I like istanbul, assen, spa and donington, like I said before. I dislike the german track, I've been there once in 2003 and it was horrible to be there: no videowalls, very bad viewings and there was nothing to do in the village hohenstein-ernstall when the race ended

the track might be good for the riders, but as a viewer I disliked it

Who would have EVER guessed that??

yeah its not a surprise, but regardless of where i live we do have it pretty good here, and nowhere else has a heritage to match.

what a stupid question.

BEST tracks:
Spain, UK, Asia (Japan, Malaysia etc etc), The F1 tracks they run are nice..

WORST tracks:
Afghanistan and Iraq.....cause they're blown up.

Probly a little biased here being an Aussie and all but i think Phillip Island is a great track for motorcycle racing, so fast and flowing, hills etc etc

Also Eastern Creek international in australia is a good circuit too, cant remember what year but there was a GP round there once. All i remember is Capirex winning.

Ok, I'm talking about my experience as a TV viewer.Unfortunately I haven't been able to go to any of these tracks-I'd give my right leg though to do that

Otherwise from the attender's POV it's obvious that the newer tracks will be the best(great facilities, stands, layout etc).

Of course I may be wrong I dont know

I was there that year...about 94,95 cause Criville took out Doohan on the last lap I'm sure..Capirex waltzed over the line!

Tom, I'm jealous of you. You live in the country where Brands Hatch is located. You suck.

The "rovals" are pretty sad. NASCAR rules here. It is the black hole of motorsports in my country that sucks up most of the sponsorship and exposure. There isn't a ton of money to be spent on run off areas, nice garages, etc. US circuits are largely bad for bikes because of the safety issues. However, as far as layout goes, we have some of the best circuits in the world.

Road Atlanta, Road America, Lime Rock, Watkins Glen, Laguna Seca, Infineon, and VIR are great circuits. Some of them are very fast; all of them serve up lots of elevation changes. Sports car drivers who come over here to run in the ALMS praise American circuits because they're not chicaned and modernized like some European circuits. Sure, Miller is nice and safe, but the layout is boring. It's too neat and straitforward; the new track just doesn't excite like the esses of Road Atlanta, the corkscrew, or turn 8 at Lime Rock.

Sadly, the AMA doesn't race at the Glen or Lime Rock because of safety issues.

Canada also has two great tracks in Mosport and Mt. Tremblant. I think Mosport is the best circuit on my continent. Even though there are fewer straits, the sports cars run faster average speeds there than at Road America!

I can get there in one hour

I think this might cause some controversy but I don't rate the uk tracks. I think we have some fantastic little facilities, but only when small events are held there as we can't handle anything big.

I've been going to Donny' for almost 10 years now and every year when the tickets go on sale I think I'm not going through that crap again.

I've been to Assen 3 times and they know how to put on a big event. Decent ticket prices, food prices, toilet facilities and friendly people (through in a huge street party the night before and it can't be beat).

I look at some of the modern 'F1' type tracks that motogp go to now and wonder if we built something like that in the middle of England right near good motorway access we could make something really nice.

The quality of some of the facilities in places like China put ours to shame.

Thats the rant over from someone still picking the mud out his boots after spending a bomb at Donny this year on the fine cuisine on offer.
