Bikergirl, I'm sorry, my mistake, Imisspelled prowess, but I meant feat; Rossi's feat to take a difficult Yamaha to two consecutive champsionships. It might well be a one-off in historical terms.
And the metaphor about Microsoft is just about drawing a parallel between the money and influences that Microsoft still carries from the nineties with the domination that Honda may resucitate with Pedrosa in motoGP and two wheels motorsports by extension. Honda know very well that Pedrosa won three 125 cc. or 250 cc. champsionships for them with inferior machinery in a paddock dominated by Aprilia. The combination of best bike and Pedrosa is proving to be lethal exactly one earlier than expected even by them.

i understand you.. although Rossi will end up champion, for that i am sure!

Even if he does it`s going to be a damn wild ride and most probably a fight to the finish. The title will go to the most deserving most consistent rider this season. Pedrosa is still in with a shot, but I think this will come down to Rossi and Hayden. Who knows how close it could get come Valencia? (When was the last time a GP championship was won on a countback?

The Gazzetta dello Sport published a piece of information about Alberto Puig grilling Dani Pedrosa in regards to his conservative attitude in Assen after that race.
If the rumor were true, that would explain Pedrosa's consistency in practice and in qualifying in Donington. But if he was to be tell off, it should by his position of spectator in Mugello, staying in his comfy 4th position no matter what and enjoying the show of the leading trio.
Anyway, it is also rumored that Alberto Puig kindly invited Pedrosa's father not to pop up too often at the garage.

I did hear he's been pressured to win races.....not sure how true though.
Oh c'mon, Dani's dad not even allowed to watch his son race? That's too much for me to swallow.

It`s true that the little guy is under tons of pressure. And people wonder why he dosen`t smile. I wouldn`t be smiling either if HRC was holding a gun to the heads of my familiy and telling me to win races or suffer the consequences. And Pedrosa is in turn, pissed off at Rossi, thinking "You pompus Italian prick. If you never left HRC I could be coasting under your wing learning the ropes easily, but you had to go off and piss the Yakuza off, so now I gotta beat you in my Rookie year just to keep 'em happy

I never knew Puig was such an ass, either. What did he say to Dani after Assen? Honestly he`s doing so fking well for a rookie, can`t his overlords cut him some slack?

Alberto Puig orders to show false times on his board to Pedrosa all the time. Last race, for instance, he lead Melandri by three seconds, but Pedrosa was shown +1 T, which meant: 'You are just one second ahead - Faster'. After all this time together I just don't know how those two guys trust each other.

Guys, the title of this thread may sound provocative to a few, but it's just creative speculation and food for thought.

In the greater scheme of things, Pedrosa grabbing the title would be good for:

- top guns like Hayden and Melandri. It'd put fire under their as and we'd see them taking risks and maturing gloriously
- promising kids like Hopkins and Vermuelen would think twice before joining purely marketing operations like Shitzuki and Kawackaki and waste their talent. No offence here, I just wish that those factories would have a more serious approach, just as Ducati and Yamaha
- the Baustistas, Kallios, Doviziosos and Lorenzos in the move. They won't find the elitist and ultra-expensive club in the top class that their predecessors went into. Stoner proved that a customer Honda and a relatively smallish sponsor can yield spectacular results.
- Rossi. His 2004 revenge mood would resuscitate. If he were wise enough to constraint his tiffosi manners and mind games, boy, he'd dig deeper in his talent and pull a few more astonishing races.

I think that a championship by Pedrosa would be bad for him (too much, too soon) and for the galaxy (Honda is the dark side of the force, for those who live in a blissful ignorance of that fact).

Actually, at this time last week I would have said Dani`s chances at the title are fairly slim due to inconsistency. Well now I`m not so sure. I mean, he`s been on the box for the past two races and looking strong, and he closed in on Hayden in the points in a big way, and put a gap between him and Rossi. He might just be having a good run, but he might not. His consistency might actually be improving. I might just have been dazzled by his dominance at Donny. I think his performance in the next few races will tell if he`s gonna be the 3rd man in a 3 way title battle or not. I bet HRC are loving it. Both their riders at the top, with two wins in as many weeks.

Dani trusts Puig 100%, I've never heard Puig say Dani had to win the championship, he never puts extra pressure on Dani (at least not on the media).
And Dani is very thankful to him, because Puig is the only reason why Dani is where he is, Dani participated in the Movistar cup when he was a kid, the 3 best riders got a 125cc Honda for the World Championship next season, Dani ended up 5th but Puig picked him, and guided all his career.

O by the way, Puig is also the one that gave Casey a chance.

That`s what I was thinking. That 1 second Melandri stuff sounds more like somthing Pedrosa`s HRC Yakuza bosses would do than Puig

Honda bosses sucks, aren't they? The reason why Rossi left Honda to join Yamaha and his beloved Jeremy Burgess.

There were a lot of reasons for Rossi going to Yamaha. One of them was the way Honda treated him, yes
