been following the reports and comment made by the press and riders, and it seems that stoner is having the exact same trouble hayden had in his raining year, " cant feel the front end"
i think there is 2 resons for this either bridgestone have given the best tyres to Rossi?
or ducati have been messing with the bike to much to get more turnability out of it and ruinded how it handled?
comments please.

well i'd say that stoner is doing a better job than hayden in the defense of his title. he did win the 1st race you know. hayden has'nt come close winning in a long time. honda & in particular yamaha have just caught up ducati. jerez & estoril are not bstone tracks either. he'll probably do much better in china. if these boycoters don't ruin it...

Maybe it's a move to diminish Stoner's domination, probably that was causing loss to Dorna, Yamaha and Honda.

Or it is witchcraft made by some rider.

Everyone at Ducati is confused, they don't know yet what hell is going on, they claim everything is ok but Stoner can't fell the front.

Better they start to think in spiritual issues and pray hard.

pretty ironic seeing stoner was banging on how good the bridgstone race front was when rossi was asking for a quali. i seem to remember him saying quali was not important as he could easily win from the first 3 rows

bridgstone giving better tyres to rossi is laughable, ducati throwing the balance of there bike out is more reasonable imo.
thats face it, stoner jumped on a bike he had .... all to do with its development and won hands down, 1 year on and 1 year of stoner development and he is in trouble.

by the looks of it he can manage that all by himself without the help of dorna. not everyone can handle fame.

I think Stoner suited the power delivery of yhe GP7 better ie.

burble burble nothing then bang everything ..... he's been on two strokes solely up until 06, so I don't think smooth low end power suits him.

The GP8 is supposed to have smoother/more useable power down low.

and again in the estoril race the bridgestones failed everyone.and for some reason a part came loose on stoners bike.something to do with the electronics i think was said

it was just the receiver for the on-board camera by all accounts. nothing detrimental to the running of the bike. now doubt some stoner fanboys will allege some dorna geezer did it to give rossi an advantage.

Maybe it was the GPS which many here say helps to ride the bike for Stoner ... so in fact how can we blame stoner for going so bad now ..... when he never rode the bike anyway.

If the GPS was loose the bike would have been steering itself everywhichaway

Did look pretty shonk though, I noticed the Bridgestone guy cringe when he saw it

No wonder the garage doors went down fast.

Agreed about the Bridgestone conspiracy or its non-existence. I'm not sure it's a case of Stoner's development causing the issues either. Ducati just seem to get it wrong from time to time, remember 2004?

What would you like him to do? Redesign the thing himself? Part of the problem is that Ducati have no riders outside of Vito Guareschi with any knowledge of the Ducati GP program prior to 2007. Sure, theses riders are supposed to be talented enough to be able to develop a bike with only the data/feedback at hand. But it makes things easier when the rider can say "Hey, what about that bit we tried last year at such and such?" I think it goes to show how valuable the consistency of Capirossi at Ducati was.

good point.

when i see him storming in the garage after things didnt go his way i get that feeling that he wouldn't be the easiest person to constructively work with,, just a hunch

Hi..
<

I came from the race
<
<
. (what a show from Lorenzo!) and i've just finished watching the race on Eurosport with portuguese commentaries. There are 2 guys making the commentaries, and midway through the race and for about 10 minutes, they had a special guest that goes by the name of Pedro Ribeiro, and this guy is a technical director from F.I.A., and is part of the MotoGP tour. So for the guys with some knowledge of the technical side of things (of which I have none
<
), here goes some of the things he said:

- one of the problems with the Ducati is that they reduced the binary/torque from last year, with the purpose of having some earlier power output, and this is making the front end very difficult to control;

- he reckons the Yamaha is the best bike at the moment, and that their electronic system is the same as Ducati (Magnetti Marelli), but has less tuning possibilities, so it's more simple and the setup is easier to achive, whereas the Ducati, although having more options=setups, for that reason, is harder to tune;

- he was also saying that the Bridgestone tyres work better in cold temperatures than the Michelin tyres, and the Michellin have the advantage the hotter the track is;

- he also said, as a personal opinion, that if Rossi had stayed with the Michelin tyres, the amount of data he has from all this years, the sharing of that data with Lorenzo (that is only a rookie and is not yet a guy who can develop a bike as good as Rossi) would be making him not only faster, but also would make Yamaha an even better bike and probably untouchable at the moment;

I'm not saying he's doing any favors for development at Ducati. He really has no track record developing a bike, maybe you're on to something.

Yes I agree entirely It was a bad move for Stoner to try and ride a bike with more low end ..... he should have stuck with what he was doing so well on.

But meh ..... its seems to be a tendency with these guys to not be satified with what they allready have .

Matter of fact I would go as far as to say that the poor low end of the Duc. was being misinterpretted as "TC" by many of us lay types.

Knowing people who have had first hand interactions with CS when he has 'race face' on, your are on the money as (in their words) he is a perfectionist and expects the same of all around him. When something goes wrong he does not like it but (and some will not like this) he does not apparently go blasting people nor blaming instead just wanting it fixed.

It has been only three races so far. Stoner won the first one already and the other two are Ducati's and Bridgestone's worst tracks.

So, why all the comments on "what happened to stoner?"

Let's watch a few more races then make our comments with stronger proofs.

Is that not fair?

If stoner was responsible for the way the bike was at qatar then he is a good developer because he was faster than 2007 (and incidentally the other teams and riders) in conditions supposedly less favourable to the bridgestones. If he was responsible for the set-up at jerez and in practice at estoril, and it looks as though he had a significant contribution given the soul-searching on race eve and subsequent decision to enlist bayliss and biaggi, he is not a good developer. That said, as I have posted previously, I doubt the ducati could be set-up to handle as well as a yamaha or 2008 honda at these circuits even if rossi and burgess were available to attempt it.
