What is the status of Suzuki for 2012?

An announcement was supposed to be made at Sepang but due to Sic's passing there has been nothing that I have heard. Does anyone know anything yet? Crescent Suzuki still have not advised their rider line up which seems to be hanging on Suzuki's MotoGP announcement.

When is the MotoGP world going to start spinning again?

It all got conveniently forgotten in the tragedy. No word yet. None from Bautista either. But the free bike at Gresini suddenly changes everything.

Gresini may go 2 CRTs. He may keep the factory bike and put Bautista on it. Lots of questions, and lots of complications.

It must be so hard for any of the teams or riders to discuss this at the moment, and there is so much to consider. Is San Carlo staying on board and will they dictate an Italian rider? Will Honda supply a factory bike, a Satellite bike or no bike. DePuniet and Bautista must be the only big names left? Unless they poach someone from moto2 (Iannone? Corsi? Bradl?...) or Superbike (Who's available?)

None of this will get sorted until Valencia, when the paddock convenes. Too many variables.

So does make a positive decision more favourable from Suzuki or will the second ride at Gresini mean that Suzuki are less likely to secure the riders they want and therefore make a the decision to exit easier?

My gut feeling is Suzuki is gone. We would have heard something by now.

I don't think so... I think I remember Bautista talking about it on After the Flag once : They might still be around for 2012. The potential he has been showing on it is really good right now, he just keeps crashing.

At the start of the season I jokingly posted that the way things were going at the time, Suzuki might actually for the first time in years end up being not the worst bike on the grid. In the past few races, it this damn close to the truth. They are making great progress, if only Bautista hadn't dropped the thing he could have kicked some serious Ducati .... I consider Suzuki to be true winners this season. The points do not show it (in part because there's just a single bike out there), but they have successfully reduced the gap to Yamaha and Honda, and may even have surpassed Ducati, all with a budget that is undoubtedly little more than a fraction of what those three factories spent this year.

It would be an incredibly loss to the sport if Suzuki would call it a day.

I agree. I think their success is in no small part to Bautista being prepared to lay it on the line. He could have not tried and blamed it on the bike and most people would have said "yeah that bike is ....". Instead we are now saying that the Suzuki is improving and Bautista is on the shopping list of quality teams.

It just goes to show that a rider can make the difference with the effort, commitment and balls they bring to the track.

is it possible we see a hayate style team?they already have a decent 800 and as it seems a 1000, they could at least sell those off and offer support in form of spare parts to a privat squad

if they do leave this is very bad news for the riders, i guess bautista will land the lcr ride ,making it what, 16 gp riders in 2012?jesus...

Im not sure i'd call it "conveniently" forgotten during tragic event. Sometimes its correct for the circus to pause.

They havent quite been forthcoming with info all along. A personal friend of mine just happened to be skydiving with John Hopkins yesterday, and asked him about SuzukiGP. Hopper said they've given him no word on their plans. This was yesterday afternoon.

Btw, his finger is still screwed up. Hes gonna hav another surgery on it soon here in SoCal. Hope all goes well.

The thing is how long does Hopper wait for Suzuki to make up their minds about their motogp project. Sadly, there is now a Gresini ride, which if they keep the factory RCV would probably be a better ride. John has missed out on tech3 if he was being considered at one point. We do know that he is the rider of choice for Crescent Suzuki WSBK, but he is loyal to Suzuki so I suppose he will wait to see what their GP plans are even if it might cost him a ride somewhere decent elsewhere.

This make sense ? I been hitting the rum

i think there gone

if they do stay in by the time they have a 1000cc sorted just to Debut for the second half of next season if there lucky they will be miles behind the rest

it will be embarrassing seeing them battling with CRtP Teams

after this time last year and one bike at zuki in 2011 announcement

they have known all year this day was coming and not a word.there gone IMO
