Valentina Rossi withdraws CAS appeal

Birdy, I haven't checked but thought that they changed the system a year ago such that the points remained on your licence for a period of 12 months from when the points were accrued.

From memory when initially applied it was as you suggest, all cleared after the last race but then it meant that there was no way to apply penalty points with an effective deterrent at the last round (ie. apply a point to mean start from rear of grid next race etc)

I believe that it keeps accumulating (will see if I can find) as the penalties for high level of penalty points accrue from start at rear of grid, to pit lane, to races and so on

EDIT.

All Classes - Effective 2014
Penalty Points
“In 2013 any Penalty Points imposed were wiped from the record of the rider at the end of the season. From 2014 penalty points will remain on the record of the rider for 365 days after which they will be cancelled. This means that a rider will have a rolling tally of penalty points with new points being added as incurred and points being deducted on their anniversary.

OK thanks that very interesting. So in fact the 3 points is no light sentence as I originally presumed. In effect Rossi will be walking on eggshells so to speak. I also do not assume that 2015 was Rossi's swansong last chance, he has every (OK Jum, 1:4) chance of contending 2016. Which means advantage MM, how many points has he got? He could punt Rossi haha.

From my understanding that is correct - it may not be a light sentence and in fact he starts the year with 4 points on his licence having already served the 4 point penalty.

What I do not know as the article did not make clear is that where a further point means back of grid, or whether it just means 5 points as he needs 7 for a pit lane start penalty

Does it still carry over once he has accrued enough penalty points to be given a back of the grid penalty and has served that penalty though?

My understanding from the article is yes, as the points can accumulate.

The next penalty after a back of grid, is a pit lane start which requires 7 points followed by a one race ban if 10 are accumulated so my reading is that he now has 4 point but has served a penalty. The next penalty he can serve is 7 points so if he accumulates a further three points prior to the anniversary of the single point he received fort he going slow on the fast line, then he gets pit lane start and so on. He cannot be re-penalised with a rear of grid start however unless the anniversary passes and he loses the point but then gains a further point for another infringement.

Not just that, but compare their reaction to the actual article which was fairly mild, though that title is misleading.

I think I know where most of those now gone boppers went. That or Papabozzo has been making a bunch of aliases on Yahoo. Just goes to show you how screwed up this whole situation is, where Marc's integrity is over, Lorenzo's title tarnished, Rossi the ever hero despite being the only of these 3 to trample the principles of competition. Of course, it's not just the fans, experts echo the same .... those comments. Nobody dares take Rossi to task.

How pathetic are these people life??? I cant stop laughing at these idiots. Word coming from Japan about the Suzuki seamless gearbox is very positive. So 2016 top 6 should look like this. Aleix, Dani, Iannone, Jorge, Marc & Maverick. Flossi & the bottom feeder fans of his will be in a world of hurt next year as he fights for 7th place.

Must be awkward considering all the time they spend together at Yamaha PR events.

Wasn't that much said in the article but if you got to the end, Lorenzo said:

"The electronics are not as sophisticated as they were before, and Suzuki knows it well. They did well in Valencia and they'll have an advantage."

Interesting? I say yes. We could use a game changer.

This is also an interesting read. I'm stunned how everyone is tripping over themselves to kowtow to Rossi. He kicks a rider off the track and everyone wants his friendship? What the ..... And the characterization of this being a mutual "feud" by weak ... journalists. If I accuse you of being a liar, a cheat, and then kick you off your bike in blind rage, how the hell is this a "feud"?

Judge: Before I pass sentence, do you have any words to explain your actions during the robbery and your attack of assault and battery?

Criminal: 'Well your honor, I broke into the victim's house because i really wanted a TV (podium). So, its not really an attack, it's just that during the robbery we had a feud.'

Judge: A feud?

Criminal: Yes, your honor, we were feuding over his TV (podium).

CNN Reporter: The victim and criminal had a mutual fued, however the victim wants to put this episode behind him, shake hands, and move on.

Marc should be aware of the Stockholm syndrome & move on. This is exactly what rossi would want.

I have yet to read any high profile voice of the sport call out Rossi’s actions in the words that it deserves. And God knows journalists, experts, racers and former racers can get on their high horse. Think of athletes who have behaved badly on or off the court/track. There never is any shortage of voices who chastise the athlete. Except in this case, when the perpetrator is deserving not one voice to call him out. (Except maybe Trunkman. When will his 3rd installment of Doctored come out?).

I've been checking Jums, he said about a month ago that it would be published that week, but no joy.

What's interesting, is in that article too, Marquez says EXACTLY what I've been saying about young riders mimicking their heroes in the top classes, a statement that a number of people including Tampa I believe disagreed with and said there was no proof, well here it is from Marc Marquez, a 4 time World Champion...

"The way that you speak, the way that you ride the bike, the way you eat something, they are looking all the time," he explained.

"You must be right at these thing because you know what you will do they will copy."

So, lets see your retort now...
