Top 5 f1 drivers

Hi slipstream welcome to the nut house.

hmm #2 & 3 ? questionable imo #3 isn't even in f1 in 2010.
<
and done jack .... lately

I think you'd get a different top 5 list in each country depending on the local "experts".

I think top 4 are correct (the order is debatable) surprised me to find Massa there, personlly he wouldn't make it to my top 10 list.

My 2 cents:

1. Alonso
2. Hamilton
3. Vettel
4. Raikkonen
5. Rosberg

^ Yeah, I'm not so sure about Massa either. He's not far off, but my list would be....

1) Alonso
2) Hamilton
3) Vettel
4) Button
5) Raikkonen

tbh, it's so hard to choose between Hamilton and Alonso, but I gave it to Fernando after I remembered him passing Schumacher round the outside of 130R at Suzuka.

My choice? - Gave up F1 many years ago, so it has to be my all time selection basd on a multitude of factors. Made it six so I could include Stewart...

1/ Jim
2/ Juan
3/ Michael
4/ Ayrton
5/ Alain
6/ Jackie

Bit of a no-brainer I suppose..no revelations there.

Sorry to hijack the thread - i know jack about the sport as it stands currently.

I think that list totally has the 5 right guys in it. Not sure if it is the right order (ie. Alonso may be better than Hamilton), but I have to say I'm pretty much behind that.

In no way is Jenson Button one of the 5 best F1 drivers of today. He's got no chance of matching Hamiltons pace next year, I think... (Not that he's bad though)

When it comes to all time bests... Now that's a lot more difficult.

How the heck can they credit Hambone with 'motivating' McLaren? As if all the workers and engineers would have sat around with their finger up their butt w/o Lewis there to cheer them on?

If anything, his father's presence alone would cast a Puig-like Pall-of-Darkness over the team.

I wouldn't put senna in the top 3, but he probably makes top 5

Well, that pass was in 2005 when the B'stones were shoddy and Michelin were great.. If you wud have mentioned hakkinen's pass on schumi in Spa that I would have accepted. But thats only my opinion

tbh I'd completely forgot about that and just had to look on Youtube to remind myself. Assuming you mean the pass into Les Combes, when they went either side of the backmarker, it was a better pass than the Alonso one.

I'm not claiming it was the greatest pass I've ever seen, but I was trying to think of something to seperate Lewis and Fernando and that Suzuka pass was the first thing I though of.
That and Alonso crashing as he exited the Monaco tunnel, sliding backwards down the track at 100mph, and still finding time to give the finger to Ralf as he came past.

A poll with more than 200 F1 drivers voted Senna the greatest ever, who do you think you are to put him at 4th or top 5? LoL...

Thank God you aren't F1 drivers or even racing drivers.

Haha.... finally someone with some sense. These guys in here who put Senna anywhere lower than 1 does not have a clue what a racer is. Even racers themselves rate him at #1, so there ya go kids.

Maybe they are only looking for numbers and statistics.

But if we trully look for what a racer is, I have to completely agree with the poll and the 217 F1 drivers who voted at it.

Even Michael Schumacher should had voted for Senna.

I hope this has really become the case. Fingers crossed.

currently (2010) best 5 drivers (judged by what they are able to do in equal cars in 2010 IMO):

1. Schumacher
2. Hamilton
3. Alonso
4. Vettel
5. Raikonnen

Which is what exactly? I'd love to see something persuasive about why Senna more than any other driver (except Moss) should be rated miles above his achievements. And 'would have won x many more titles' wont do

Also, as interesting as the poll was it is not the be all and end all of how good F1 drivers are/were, the people voting aren't necessarily objective, did you notice how high Jenson Button was in the list?

And 'would have won x many more titles' wont doBecause he brought new levels of fitness, concentration, technical ability & determination to the sport. 65 pole positions in a decade was/is a massive achievement that very few would deny gives him the right to be a contender for the F1 goat mantle. & That's without mentioning any individual race performances. He is not rated above his achievements.
