These Gp contracts must be full of holes

It's logical, as much as I'd hate to see Edwards leave Motogp, this makes more sense.

His results have never been that great, his tire development role is no longer as important with spec tires next year and Yamaha have a new model superbike to develop with two rookie riders. Makes sense.

I also don't like saying that Spies will probably do better than Edwards if the swap were to take place.

But most of us, with the announcement of spec tires and Michelin not involved, have wondered what impact that would have on Edwards...and there it is.

Why do you not like saying you think Spies would do better than Edwards.I like Colin a lot but i think Spies is hungry and Colin is riding the gravy train.Spies has better results on an inferior bike,he should have been the choice all along for someone.

I predicted this...it's some place on the forum....GOD i'm good

Tech 3 Yam isn't as good as M1 Rossi or Lorenzo. But Edwards has seen better days and has nothing to loose. I don't think Edwards going back to WSBK for a retirement. He ain't no Bayliss. Let's hope I'm wrong. Spies better ride Factory Spec R1 in WSBK than rider Tech 3 Yam in MotoGp. That Tech 3 Yam is suck and it's true for any Sattelite team.

I would venture to say that satelite teams do "suck" but as the 800's evolve the satelite teams are getting closer and closer to the factory bikes. Look at what Toseland was able to do at PI. You don't hold off a hungry Rossi for a few laps on a sucky bike. I think that it would be a good stepping stone for Spies although my heart wants to see him in WSBK. That would be far more exciting.

The Tech 3 team has factory spec bikes. The only diff between them and Jorge's bike is the electronics. A big diff, but not hardware.

Edwards is a smart guy. He hasn't let his desire to win get him into crashes that are going to cause him pain when he is old. If he doesn't feel comfortable on the bike he isn't going to push to the front. Yam race directors know this as well. He knows these manufactors are ruthless and will dump a rider right now. He is playing the game for what it is worth. When his time is up he will walk away from racing comfortably not limp in pain like many.

My wish was to see Toseland on the podium at PI but he wasn't.

He was almost there and his only chance this year. IMO, Toseland is much better rider than Lorenzo or that Dani boy and he knew PI track damn well and won there before in his WSBK days. If JT was on the Factory M1 I bet he is on the podium last week drinking champane with Rossi on the Rostrum..Where was Tech 3 bike last yaer when Guntolli and that Jap dude riding the yellow Tech 3 bike?...dead last..oh yeah we can blame Dunlop then...

Why are Yamaha so eager to get Ben Spies in the saddle?

I though Rossi and Lorenzo were secured for the foreseeable future?

Yeah, most of the blame would likely land on the doorstep of Dunlop. But Tech 3 was truly a satellite team in 2007, this season they received factory spec bits and factory support. Much closer to what Rossi and Lorenzo are running than they ever have been. And the fact that Tamada and Guintoli are not riders to measure one's self by either.

I still think Spies would do better than Colin in the long run but ya really never know in GP. If this happens it wil be good for Ben but Colin would be and should be pissed.

i posted in a thread a few weeks back that the eurosport guys said yamaha were trying to "persuade" edwards to team up with sykes in wsb. if you remember there was also a thread about the new big bang r1. in that thread was a video with edwards riding and talking about the new r1.

if i were a betting man i would put my money on spies going to tech3 and colin to wsb. i bet money is the real issue here as to who goes where. has spies lowered his wage demand ?

No one wants that woman running the team.

They don't sell bikes in the big market (USA)

Quick question. Are you saying that Yamaha's don't sell in the U.S.?

<
<

That is far from the truth.

No, He's claiming Rossi and Lorenzo don't sell bikes in the US.

Ok.. Spies in Motogp vs Edwards.

I don't think that Spies will shine brightly if he doesn't have setup help.

We have hit this point over and over again. Toseland struggled with setting up his bike, CEII helped him and he benefited. 250 jockies have a leg up on WSBK guys in the Gp's due to their ability to set up the bike (not to mention track knowledge).

Thus as a team manager, who do I want on my team. The guy that's goin to give me more TV time and Score me points. The likelihood of Spies outscoring Edwards is small.

On paper - Give me Edwards....
My heart says.. Spies is hungry, agressive and strongwilled. He will be exciting.
(beward of the slump ala Toseland, it's a very long season)

Not real small,He outscored Edwards in the 3 races he participated in on an inferior bike.
