The Politics of MotoGP

He said the motor/power was the same, no difference in tyres and Pramac ......-up by not having a suspension guy! So, where is the favouritism?!

here is the favoritism

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE<div class='quotemain'>big boss Claudio Domenicali asked that the situation that happened in the Italian GP, when I passed Stoner at the end of the race and was 3rd, never repeat itself.

not only favoritism but im sure there are rules about giving such orders if not there should be imo.

C'mon Roger ... one race and one position ... 3 points (if what Alex said was true) ... he was so far behind in the previous 5 races, which says he would rarely (if ever) threaten Casey and history now says he never did again!!

No .... I think Rogers mind is made up!! ..... the championship would have changed immensly had this not happened ( if it did happen like that ) .... "the chosen one" would have won!!

In any case I'm sure Stoner became many folk at Ducati's favourite rider during 2007 ...... is that a bad or unfair thing?? .....

if it is .....

whilst we are talking of playing up to the favourites ..... I heard tell of a team that even produced a radically new configured engine mid season ... and gave it to one rider to race with!! .....
<
<
it didn't turn out too good so I'm betting the other teammates were glad they weren't able to get stuff like that first!! .... maybe being "the favourite" is actually a bad thing??
<

In the scheme of things ... any favouritism Stoner got from his team .... I think he earned the most honourable way possible ....

At the start of the season Duc. had 4 riders

Capi., Barros, Hoffman and Stoner

who do you think they would have invested the most faith in?? Hence any favouritism?? either planned, or consequential.

There have always been team orders in all sorts of motorsports. As far as I know there is no rule against it in motogp. Even in F1 the rule was only brought in a few years ago after a particularly blatant schumacher/barichello interchange in melbourne and part of the controversy attached to this was that it raised the ire of bookmakers involved in betting (legally) on the race. I really think the rule in F1 currently is something of a fiction, with the unstated rule being just don't do it so blatantly(?ferrari in the last race this year). Perhaps unwisely, mclaren may be an exception, and alonso at least seemed to consider this highly unusual.

I think it is quite possible that ducati didn't make strenuous efforts to ensure the d'antin bikes were as fast as the factory bikes particularly as the season progressed, but I would like to know of any manufacturer in motogp or engine supplier in F1 who acts differently. Perhaps the more remarkable thing is that the d'antin (on the same tyres) was ever fast enough to beat the factory bike.

I don't see it as a conspiracy to concentrate resources on the rider with the best chance particularly as the season progresses; I think it would be very difficult to treat 2 riders entirely equally when one had no chance even if you tried. Do you really think yamaha have always concentrated equally on rossi and edwards for the whole season?

Exactly. Too many ....... paranoid conspiracy freaks here. It's a simple question of economic pragmatism. A team owner or factory president decides one guy has the best chance and that guy gets the best support. That Barros didn't get the tech guys he needed is in all likelihood a budgetary concern for a small company like Ducati. With sponsors fleeing Moto GP left and right money is tight everywhere. Team orders exist in all forms of motor racing - it's a fact of life. These guys are racing in the real world - not some wide-eyed fan-imagined utopia. It's a business Dude. Get over it. Team orders suck, but not as much as the scumbags at Repsol sticking WC Hayden with a mini-bike built for Little Pedro.

I think it should be open slather if both team-mates have a realistic chance, as with proust vs senna at mclaren.

Speaking of Google, has anyone been paying attention to their stock. In 3 years it has gone from opening at 85.00 a share to over 700.00 a share.
The company on paper is worth 221 billion dollars. Not bad for a couple of college computer geeks.I personally dont care for them since they allowed China and other countries to censor the internet on subjects that shine a negative light on those said countries. They have sold out billions of people for the allmighty dollar.

you right about what you say regarding censorship in china and i agree, but the usa also censor the net, me and a mate used to look for sites that took the piss out of prez bush, they didnt last long on the net before being shut down, i daresay the uk act the same way. theres no such think as freedom just degrees of freedom imo.

Cant say that ive ever experienced any censorship here in the States, especially on the subject of George Bush. You can find any vile thing said about the man that has ever been printed, again, using Google. Now if you want to see something funny,go to Google and punch in French Military Victories and hit Im Feeling Lucky Tab.What you will get is a heading saying[ Did you mean French Military Defeats].Click on that and enjoy the laughs

Barros should know that when you sign for a satellite team your not expected to beat the factory team ever... because hes experienced and good at Mugello he did it.

Maybe D'antin should sign crap riders then
<

Ducati went about it a bit wrong, you don't give satellite team the same engine for starters that makes the difference but you give the team what it needs like a suspension guy let the rider feel that hes in a good enviroment.

barros sounds like an arrogant pt in that interview, all i saw was moan moan moan, christ that interview would give rossi a run for his money! joke... JOKE!

im sorry but he virtually said that checa only got the ride because he was prepared to accept less money and as if he could be WSB champ!
<
barros hasnt done anything for years... i say good luck to carlos and if he are prepared to race for less money then good for him. i might seem out of order here but barros sounded really arrogant in what he said there.

The bit about his [Barros] bike getting slower after Mugello and Domenicali's orders makes one wonder why, after a pole at Qatar and a near win in Istanbul, Casey went downhill so fast in '06. I think Stoner, in an earlier interview, mentioned the possibility of his electronics being screwed with back then.

This interview is true. It was publish for a brazilian motorcycle magazine (Revista da MOTO!) and was made for a one of the bests motorcycles repoter Roberto Agresti.

I know tha becouse I'm brazilian and I have this magazine.

If anyone doubt about that I can scan all interview pages.
