QUOTE (Bootsakah @ Jul 24 2009, 10:36 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
It really boils down to this, Casey Stoner said in the post race interview that his going down in the gravel was "his fault". He accepted the incident as his.

When the guy (Stoner) that supposedly was brake checked admits the incident was his fault, immediately after losing the race, when his emotions very high as we all know. Then I would not put blame on someone else. What Stoner was pissed off about was the other hard racing that was going on, namely the pass in the corkscrew. But let's not reopen that can again.

^^^The real "thing" that pissed Casey off was that he clearly had the faster bike. He had the ability to put down faster laps than everyone else, and he lost to a race master who simply wanted the win more that Casey did. That is what really pissed him off. If he had won the race he would have laughed at the rough house racing tactics they were both employing.

What Valentino did was comparable to a tactic that is often seen in boxing. One fighter clearly has the advantage in hand speed, and footwork, if allowed to fight to his strengths he would clearly win an easy decision or even a knockout. The other boxer only has a chance if he baits the other fighter into a brawl where the advantages of superior speed and footwork will be nullified. Casey let Rossi dictate the rules of the fight and he lost because of it. JMHO!

good way of putting it mate

I didn't think there was anything wrong with the hard racing at Laguna (in fact I thought it was a brilliant add for the sport), except for the pass at the corkscrew where Rossi left the track. It was an amazing show of skill for Rossi to stay on the bike and it showed how amazing his bike control is....... but you shouldn't pass people by leaving the track. It was a bit like shortcutting a chicane, if he couldn't pass without leaving the track, then he couldn't pass.

All said, both Rossi and Stoner are fantastic riders, I hope to see them battling head to head more often. Stoner is doing agreat job in making the Ducati work, when it is clearly not as good a bike as the others he is fighting with. Rossi probably has the best gear but he has that care of being the best rider.

This a great posting

the brake check claim reminds me of an old F1 incident when Michael Schumacher was competing against Damon Hill - Scuhmacher as the arch villain overtook hill - and the to make sure hill didn't re-overtake - took careful aim at a wall - spun his car into the wall and all the time keeping hill in his crosswires - bounced backwards across the track and took out hill ending the race for both of them, but maintaining his points lead

or was he just racing and had a crash
